I’ve been doing some research on painting the calipers. Seems VHT, POR-15 and Duplicolor come up the most. I read in a couple places that powder coating is not good because it acts as an insulator and holds in heat. But it seems a lot of people go that route. This is definitely more involved than I thought! Some people choose to buy new calipers rather than prep their existing ones. Less down time, just a lot of added cost! Caliper covers came up also but I’m not too sure about that. What’s your opinion on this? Paint vs powder coat, new vs existing, etc.?

I know a lot of people around here recommend G2 Paint. I personally am not a fan of caliper covers, they look cheap and not a fan of the concept of them. Anything you add, caliper covers or paint, is going to add another heat insulator, but it really isn’t going to matter.

You want G2 caliper paint and you want to buy a bottle of Alumi-Brite to clean everything.
Wear rubber gloves…the cleaner will make your fingernails mushy but nothing cleans old brakes better. G2 is the gold standard for caliper paint.

I’ve used Alumi-Brite before to clean up engine accessories and brackets. Good stuff but definitely potent!

I would go with yellow. I used blue G2 caliper paint on mine. It seems very durable & is holding up well!
