Just read an article where Ford is recalling 700,000 vehicles because camera can distort images or go black
2020 Explorers are part of the recall
Supposedly a poor electrical connection

Mine goes dark sporadically. It requires a reboot (engine restart) each time to get it to work. Looking forward to the repair when it becomes available.

They showed us that "reboot" yesterday at the Explores ST Experience. With the engine running put it in PARK, turn off the ignition, open and close the drivers door and restart it. They said it fixes most minor glitches.

I've done this before on my own the past year but then I found out about the Sync reboot method by just pushing and holding power and >> button on the audio controls. Both essentially do the same thing.

I have the same issue but when reversing you can't be turning off the vehicle and restarting it to see behind you. Is Ford working on a fix? I'll try the alternate method on the audio controls in the meantime.

Recall number 21S44

Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a Ford dealer to have the image processing module IPMB software updated. Same recall for the Aviator.

I was waiting for my notice, but dealership is flashing while it’s there for other warranty repairs. I’ve never had the issue, but they’re flashing.

I had the camera turn blue, common issue.

Pulled it off, cleaned the contacts.

Plug in Forscan and reset dtc associated with that fault.

All good now

I received the recall. Mine is going in the get the driver side seat panel replaced. I mentioned 2 recalls Catalytic Coverter and the Backup camera. I was told they are aware, but they don’t have parts for the recall…lol

Mine arrived at the dealer last Thursday and I picked it up Friday. The sales guys weren’t aware of the recall when I mentioned it. But, they were able to perform it together with the Prep Friday morning.

Good thing I scheduled my appointment to have this fixed. I have a bunch of DTCs, that I think are related. Not all of them, but a lot of 'em. Unrelated, but my side mirrors won't open now. lol, pressing the button does nothing.

Reset all of them, see if it goes away or re appear shortly.
Maybe it just a glitch in the Matrix
