update: took it to a different Ford service and they pulled the codes that it has been sending Ford SINCE THE PHASERS were replaced, which tells them the timing is off.
Purchased New 11/23

3/24 rattle on start up- replaced cam phasers @1k m

10/1
CEL (p0011) loss of power, rough idle (as if it’s going into limp mode)— took to ford dealer- CVT was cleared of any debris, computer reset, returned to us

10/11 CEL (same issue as above)
Drove it to dealership while CEL on & running bad . Service manager hooked it up to find it throwing same codes. One week later we are told Ford tech told dealership to clear CVT again & reset computer. Told us they want to keep it and drive it 100 miles to see if they can “replicate the issue again” . Drove it 100 miles and no cel/ issues. We picked it up tonight (even though they wanted to keep it and continue trying to replicate the issue. Why??? They have had it twice now with CEL on and running bad.

Are we dealing with an incompetent ford service dept? They have had it twice now with same issue and still no diagnosis. Two weeks total between both times.

I’ll tell you I wouldn’t like my dealer driving my car for 100 miles. It definitely sounds like this dealer doesn’t seem like they know what they’re doing, or they’re lazy.

Exactly how I feel and that’s why I took it yesterday.

Yes incompetent techs in my opinion. Keep taking it in to the dealer keep records. if they can’t fix the issue you might have a good lemon law case brewing. Hopefully they find a fix for you.

I would be looking for another dealer! I took mine back to the dealer I purchased from and had the transmission serviced. The day I got it back it started slipping. A week later it was shot! Three months later I finally got it back with a new transmission. Lot's of other issues with them as well. Needless to say, I now drive the extra to go to a different dealer. So far they have been ok. I've also got a really good local mechanic I go to for the small, non-warranty, stuff.

Ended up taking it to a dealer in Indy, which is an hour away but there was no way we were taking it back to our local dealer. They show it’s been throwing codes p0011 and also p0016, which they say likely means our current issue stems from when they changed the cam phasers back in March. Timing off/ bent valve.. we will know more this week once they have time to really check it out. Im guessing our local dealer knows they f’d something up when they replaced the phasers and are just trying to not own up to it (guessing Ford isn’t going to pay them to fixed what they messed up)… now wondering if it could have a bent valve..
I’m just so over this….. we did file for a buy back, but guessing they will just deny it.

That sucks man! My dealer screwed something up on my vehicle just about everytime I brought it in. After they replaced the rear differential I kept hearing a noise in the rear right of the car. Took it back and they confirmed the noise but said they couldn't find it. Took it to my local guy and we put it on the lift and found this:

You can see where the spring was hitting the sway bar because it was off the perch! Then, after they did the transmission I was hearing a clunking sound right under my feet. Took it back and same thing, they couldn't find anything. The noise went away so I didn't think much about it. A couple weeks later we had it on the lift again for something and I found this:

That's the left rear engine mount! They stripped it out and it was moving up and down causing the clunking sound until it finally jumped on top of the bolt! Needless to say I didn't bring it back! I just ate it and had my mechanic fix it. I was affraid to bring it back in to them. So you're not alone. It sucks you have to roll the dice bringing your vehicle in to a dealer. Hopefully your new shop treats you better.

Man was there a bunch untrained techs working on this?
That’s totally unacceptable. I would take the pictures to the owner of that dealership and demand a total refund.

I did take pictures to the service manager and he just said he would show them to the tech so he would know for next time. I thought about taking it to Ford but decided it probably wouldn’t do any good. I just don’t go there any longer and try to steer people away if I can.

I would send them to Ford and fight this.
You’re lucky that didn’t cause you to wreck injuring/killing you or someone else.
That is total sloppy half ass work that was done to your vehicle.
How many other customers have they done this too? Makes a person wonder. Unacceptable in my opinion.
