They have the full review on the site now, and it actually has a lot more positive things to say. But I do think the twin turbo V6 is what is necessary to make the Explorer a well-rounded vehicle, and it should be an option on all trims.

Can you post the link to the article?

One thing that makes the Telluride look so cool is those 20” wheels fit in the wheel wells perfectly, and there is not much of a gap in there.
Does anyone know why the Explorer’s wheel wells are so huge? I am thinking you could fit some humongous rims in there!

I take no auto reviews past specific specifications with any seriousness. Too many ad dollars at work behind the scenes.
Comparison opinions are the worst and completely unreliable. Projected reliability is also foolery.
I test drove and thoroughly examined about every 2018-available 2020 5 and 7 seat higher end suv from several brands domestic, European, Japanese, and Korean.
Took my time, about 18 months.
Settled into the ST, obviously.
Close runner up was Lincoln, caddy, palisade, and passport elite.

Yesterday I stopped at Walgreens to pick up my prescription. In front of me was a Telluride. As I was getting out the guy who owned it was leaving the store. His son said “Dad, look at that truck!! It’s cool!”. The man asked me if it was the 2020 Explorer. He hasn’t seen one yet. I showed him mine inside and out and he was very impressed. He got his Telluride when it first came out. He said he was going to go to the Ford dealer where I bought mine.... Brandon Ford.... and go check them out.

The telluride doesn’t have WiFi so I stopped looking right away...deal breaker for me. Looks nice though! I imagine performance is no comparison to the ST 400HP.

The ST confidence inspiring and way more fun...it’s a driver’s car. But I have a feeling it is going to be a few years before they get all these bugs worked out. You better have a backup vehicle on hand.

Consumer reports is a joke...those guys are born with a stick up their ass and have very little knowledge of cars...the Explorer St may have its bugs and Ford will work them out. It's still the best bang for the buck for a high performance SUV on the market. It looks badass just sitting still.

As far as the Telluride, just another underpowered ricer that's polluting the cool car market. Performance wise the Explorer ST will bitch slap it back to asia. I don't do foreign cars.

I wouldn't rag on Consumer Reports. The Explorer loses just about every comparo ever written. The Telluride is a great buy if what your looking for is a generic 3 row SUV. If it weren't for the ST trim, how many of us would be in an Explorer? There's not a lot of choice for a performance SUV that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Durango SRT is probably the only competitor and according to Motortrend, ST even loses that comparo!

The ST has yet another competitor now in the MDX, at least in terms of money.

The stock wheel/tire setup on the Telluride are way too skinny IMO

I own 2 Mopars. Challenger Hellcat and Trackhawk. Love them both but not as my daily drivers. The Ford is Perfect with ST performance, it looks the part but the drive is a perfect balance between performance and daily drivability. The Durango SRT makes a horrible daily driver. The MPG is 12 at best. The Brembo's glaze over and squeal like Ned Beauty in Deliverance and did I mention the brake dust? I changed out the Brembo pads on my Mopars to "Powerstop" pads because I could not take the dam brake dust. Lastly I do not do imports. American cars only in my stable.
