Those were my initial thoughts when hearing the Borla , which is why i was originally considering the MBRP Black Series mufflers . I had actually bought the OEM axle-back from a 2014 GT500 mustang . After arriving to the exhaust shop , the owner said this might sound better . Stuck the ST on the lift and started cutting . Shoved the x-pipe/resonator in there and had the guy start the vehicle . I immediately was sold on the idea and finished it off with some stainless oval tips to fill in the openings.....just to be different from the standard dual round tips like every other exhaust out there . Sold the GT500 exhaust and never looked back !
I will be considering the downpipes soon enough . If i love the exhaust note now , I can't imagine what it would sound like with that extra free flow .
So how are you liking the custom exhaust, you just have the flopro resonator going into straightpipes out the back right? Still liking the sound? Any noticeable performance gains?

It's probably one of the simplest setups out there . Remove OEM resonator and replace with Flo Pro . Chop off OEM mufflers and tips and replace with straight pipe and tips of your liking . Like UNBROKEN said , these vehicles need a higher pitched sound instead of trying give them a V8 rumble....which is never going to happen . This is why I mentioned that all these big name manufacturers are going in the wrong direction with the exhaust note . I am not saying that members that purchased the "big name" exhausts are wrong in what they did because I am sure they are happy with their choice , I am only stating that one should build on the best quality sound for the platform provided .
Wonder how that will work....going from 3" to 2.5" to 2.25"
I know when I am ready for the downpipes , my whole exhaust is going to be fitted to the same diameter exhaust the whole way . Less restriction on a turbo vehicle is the best way to go

as an example
the Fiesta and Focus exhausts are designed for optimal flow while eliminating drone
Thermal is never the loudest or raspy sounding, they offer a slightly louder , deeper tone typically

All the quotes I'm getting in Colorado are for around $800, was yours for parts and everything? The place today quoted $850 to take off the factory resonator and replace with a magnaflow x-pipe and then straight pipes to dual matte black tips. Seems kinda expensive for that.

Ahh, you probably get cheap gas too! Just regular 87 octane is $2.50 / gal here, I saw something called T100 the other day (and said race fuel in big letters) @ $10 /gal.
