Dealer oil change and ZFG Tune

I have a ZFG tune and was wondering if any of you that have a tune , flash back to stock before taking it in or is that just a bunch of hoopla? I go to them because I get tired rotated and all of that as well. Just don’t want to go in and they flash something …..

I don't see why they would flash anything for simply a tire rotation or oil change but that could be dealer dependent? If brought in for mechanical, electrical, etc. I definitely could see that being done. I'm sure others with more experience can provide better insight.

Two of our local dealers scan every vehicle as it comes in, regardless of why it's there. However, not all of the dealers do that. I'm not sure what that initial scan is capturing, but its possible that ignition cycles or some other status may be captured via the OBD tool. If you are truly worried, rolling back to your stock won't hurt but that's going to reset your cycle count. However, it may give them one less reason to poke around.

Reflashing to stock absolutely resets the key counter. It does a KAM reset.

Agreed. I should have said it won't keep your count.

A low number of key cycles is a dead give away that you're tuned. Ask me how I know!

I just did an oil change at my dealer and left the tune on there. I even called my tuner and they told me not to reset of for an oil change. I had no issues. I had to bring it back to the dealer right after the service because the check engine light was on. Turns out the tech forgot to install the sensor going to the air box!

I had the rear camera and diff bushing recall work done recently and did not return to stock. No issues from the dealer.

They are forscsn friendly..as in service writer is a forscsn guy
Tunes would be in question if some related item was failed...then I guess your on your own or not
Last place that asked if I had a tune was back on my 2002 dually
In 2003.
He just wanted to know before he wiped it, so an update would go through
Then they put back my Diablo tune..

Decided to go to a local shop to get oil change and tire rotation done. Now my next question is for the recalls(bolt and camera) anyone here take their vehicle with the tune or did you reflash back to stock before?

Returning to stock will reset the key cycles! When they see that, they are gonna know you’re tuned! You’re better off leaving the tune in. This is a pretty hot topic on here. If you’re not in a position to pay out of pocket then you shouldn’t tune your vehicle.

I just picked mine up a few hours ago. Trans flush, oil change, and rear camera. I left the tune on, although the service writer knows me well. I had a CRP Stage 4 F150 that went in all the time. Never had one issue with leaving the tune on. The only worry I ever have is if the tech is going to beat on it durning the “test drive” lol

What trans fluid did they replace yours with? I was going to have the dealership do mine and they said they were going to replace with LV instead of ULV. The manual strictly says ULV only and I'm surprised Ford even mentioned the LV.

My service writer knows my vehicle, and knows what's done to it. He also knows not to do anything out of the ordinary with it.
