Black, no ST badge... but the same grill & front valance etc. He was stopped at a light as I turned left in front of it.

I could be wrong, but that could have just be one of the lower models with the "ST-line" package. It's all for looks on those ones.

I don't think stating that YOU have a ST was needed with this, just because it's possible to debadge a vehicle doesn't mean that everyone does it and that's the only possibility. https://www.autoblog.com/photos/2022-ford-explorer-st-line/#slide-2343755 has photos of the ST line which does NOT have any "ST" badges from the factory only a ST-line badge that could easily be removed as well. Is it possible that it was a debadged ST that OP saw, sure.

It looked like there was *something* (black) lower left on the grill, but it wasn't an ST badge.

Why on earth someone would buy a vehicle that they've sought after and then debadge it so it doesn't display what it is, is beyond me.

As far as it being less noticeable as an ST, it only has two small badges (F/R) to begin with. I think Ford should've put another one on each front quarter panel

I can't speak for others but I didn't buy the ST for the badges... I bought it because I though it had clean lines and it fit the bill of what I wanted. Just like the SRT vehicles I debadged. I wanted smooth, clean lines with no badges.

I bought my ST because it is an ST and expect the proper badging that goes along with it. I see debadging as taking away from the very heart of the vehicle.

Of all the Stangs, high performance sedans, foreign sports cars, etc. I've owned, not a single one was debadged. Never even occurred to me to do it.

To each their own! Can't argue matters of taste anyway. I like all my vehicles stock and the way they were designed and engineered to be. Otherwise I'd buy a different vehicle. I'm also frugal and lazy! LOL I've already spent enough time and money on my purchase. Have no interest in another hobby.
