I was wondering if anyone here is knowledgeable on E85 gas and /or the effects of letting your ST site for a month or 2.
My 22 has 70k miles and runs on straight E85. Over the summer it developed a misfire (#3) and was sputtering/blowing white smoke. I bought a coil/plug but from the time I drove to and from the auto parts store, it cleared up? It's been good for 6 months (love it when fords fix themselves) but now it's winter in wisconsin( 13 degrees below 0 as I type this) and my ST doesn't like it with the E85. It takes a couple cycles before it fires (I expected this) but now I have a misfire (#2). I know I could put the stock tune back in but my plan is to buy a winter beater and let the ST sit during most of the winter/rain days to save on mileage and keep it out of the salt because it's my toy and its fun as hell. Anyway, other than keeping the battery charged, is there a reason to be concerned about letting it sit for a while? Does the gas sit in the lines or just sit in the tank when not running? Should I be concerned about the corrosive properties of E85 if it sits for a while? Would it help to ad some of these fuel additives like HEET or something before it sits for a while?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
