I hit a deer in my Honda Passport back when I was living in Virginia and though I still had some damage to the grill, it was alot less than if I hadn't had a grill gaurd!
What about something like this? Most of these sensors are the same size. Drill a few holes, mount them inside and done. Be sure to paint the bare metal.

I've seen that, I saw someone has used this for the sentina grill guard and worked. My only complaint (at least with the black horse grill guard) there's no location for screw holes that would require drilling into the steel structure.
Could probably mount it to a nylon sheet/plate and drill a large hole and mount it to the bolt on the mounting bracket.
