I’ve been looking high & low for a plug-in headlight/taillight flasher module for this gen Explorer and it doesn’t appear anyone makes one.
I am aware that there’s companies that can install them but I’m specifically looking for something plug & play like a Speed Turtle.

Anyone know why there’s nothing on the market for our Explorers? If there is, I’m all ears.

What is your goal? Most reasons I know a flasher module are for custom flashing patterns and to add compatibility with LED bulbs, both of which should be done without a flasher module, but via ForScan.

(I know you can disable hyper-flash / bulb error with ForScan, but I’m only assuming companies that outfit Interceptors use some form of ForScan if not a dedicated module)

If there was an actual flasher module, it’d would be integrated into the BCM / IP I’d imagine.

My goal is a plug & play solution to flash the DRLs, taillights, marker lights, etc with the push of a button. I’m an EMT & we respond to emergencies with our personal vehicles.

There’s a few companies that offer these modules like Speed Turtle, Z-Flash, etc. and they support most current vehicles, except for Ford. They can plug into the ODBII or directly into the BCM.
Fords are offered only up to about 2019. I’m curious if anyone knows why this is.
I don’t think this is anything I can easily accomplish via Forscan. At least not with the push of a button.

I have it in my truck & I can turn them on via double push if my hazard switch. Single push is standard flashers.

I can’t post a video but here’s a link to what I’m trying to do.

I had contacted Z-Flash about this and they related that the computer for the 2020-2024 Explorers do not work with their systems and so they have given up trying to make one for them

They have developed a high beam flasher for 2020 + explorers

Never. Ever. Use. SpeedTurtle. Or anything similar because you WILL fry your BCM. Do it right and use a Whelen or Soundoff Flasher. We have them on our fleet Explorers at work, including non-interceptor ones. The ones we got are all plug and play with a trigger wire; no cutting or splicing required.

If you really need a flasher for a reason for work, message me.

Thanks. I ended up getting a Z-Flash from Ultra Bright Lightz. Looks the same as the unit you linked.
I just ordered one of these from UBL yesterday. Assuming you got the one that plugs into your BCM, did you have any issues tucking the wires/harness in and getting the panel back on? Thats one thing that I noticed might be difficult. Thanks!

Yes, tucking the wires was a little bit of a pain. You kind of have to get creative where you place everything. I used Velcro cable ties to keep everything in place.

One thing to look out for… I am a volunteer EMT for our local village so I use these flashers when responding to calls. There was bug in my module that when I had the flashers activated & it was at night with my headlight switch in “Auto”, the moment the high beams would come on, it would shut off the headlights completely. Obviously that sucks when it’s nighttime.

I worked with UBL support, which were great BTW, and after a few weeks of emails & sending videos of the issue, they sent me an updated Beta program to download to the module.
I had worked great ever since. The new program also included a 4th flash sequence. The original only had 3.

I have a Speedturtle flasher module on my GMC 2500 & honestly, I like it better than the UBL module. The Speedturtle is completely programmable with a laptop where with the UBL, you get what you get. The UBL is all we have available right now for the latest Explorers so it is what it is.

I appreciate the information…thank you. And that’s the same purpose I will be using this set-up for. Was the beta update pretty easy to add?

Download to module was pretty simple. They email you the file, you transfer it to a jump drive & then plug it into the flasher module. There’s a little sequence you have to follow but it’s easy.

I swapped out the rear amber turn signals for red LEDs. It has a nice red/white flash from the signals & reverse lights.
