Has anyone replaced the LED stop lights yet? II wanted to replace them with flashing stop LED lights that flash 3 times quickly then stay steady. It definitely gets the attention of anyone behind you. You've probably seem them around.

I see that two of the lights in the tail light assembly are twist off bulbs (replaced them with LED of course) but the LED light is just a straight clip/push in. There looks like there is a clip on one side that can be pushed in or pulled out to release the bulb. Just checking to see if anyone has done this before I try it. Don't want to break anything of course.

I've done the flashing third brake light with a very inexpensive amazon part but not the regular brake lights.

The tail lights contain almost 80 separate leds. Changing it around might not be so simple.

Just do the flashing third brake and leave the actual stop lights solid. Flashing stop lights just might make the driver behind you think you're pulsing the brakes and not slamming to a stop... you need some sort of solid brake light in the rear.

I bought the cheap amazon part that wires into the third brake light.. flashes 3 times fast... 3 times slow and then stays solid

Someone please provide a link to the module and some information about installing it for the upper stop light strip. Thanks!

This might be what Matt716 referred to. I found this on amazon. I do not have one installed.

I'll find the exact one.. hang tight

It comes with instructions for install... you do cut factory wires but they give you everything you need. i went cheapo and twisted with electrical tape since they are simple thin wires.

Takes 10-15 minutes in your driveway.

Quick instructions:

Pop the plastic trim piece.. literally just pops off and pulls away.

Factory connector.. the yellow wire is the hot wire and the purple wire is the ground.

Cut the yellow wire..

"OUT" of the flasher box... black ground is unused... red ties in to the connector side yellow.

"IN" of the flaser box.. black ground taps into connector ground... red ties in to the body side yellow.

Mount and wam bam you got a cool and safe third brake light flasher.

quick idea of where I mounted mine... I cleaned it up after this picture but not much haha... it's hidden behind the trim panel and going no where.

I absolutely love it and have had compliments from co workers who've driven behind me saying it actually does catch their attention while the normal stop lights remain solid.

The plastic trim piece you noted, is that the interior upper trim panel on the lift gate?
Yes.. once you open the tailgate.. its the piece at the top of the rear windshield... right where the third brake light is mounted. Literally pops right off.

And as always.. disconnect the battery first!
