I have my Ford Explorer ST Experience driving scheduled in Park City in a couple weeks. Has anyone done this yet? What has been your experience? Is it worth it?

We went to the first class this year. Well worth the trip. You really get to push their cars to the limits and learn what the car can handle.

Thanks Scott. I already do that with mine LOL!!! But seriously, I am looking forward to it. I am also looking forward to testing a few performance issues I’ve had to see if their cars have the same issue.

By the way, if you do go to Asheville, you really should take in the Vanderbilt Mansion- it's fabulous. Also, tack on the $25 (or so) to purchase the "Architect's tour". You get to see a ton of rooms that you won't see in the regular walking tour, plus you get to see the attic construction, hang out on the roof with the gargoyles, see the basement pool and the kitchens. Well worth the money.

I’m there for the Aug 1-2 session but I’ll be there all that week.

My wife and I are going to the Aug. 16-17 event in Park City, going to stay a couple of extra days. I'm looking forward to it and my wife is jazzed about it too. Had the wild idea going through my mind that as it's one of the last two scheduled events in Park City they may have an extra Swag Bag at the end of the season. I was hoping I could buy an extra one for @DoingOK as his health doesn't permit him to go. Might be just that, a wild thought but it won't hurt to ask.

If you have done any high performance driving schools or autocrosses and are going out of your way for the trip it might not be worth it, you get to do a few evasive lane changes, test the emergency braking system from 20 mph and the auto cross at the end. The autocross consists of three practice laps for the primary driver with your fourth lap as the official lap, the second driver gets two timed laps with their third counting. They also had a skid pad setup but only have enough time for half the group to try it with the other half testing the self parking feature.

In Asheville you get a self guided tour of the Biltmore AFTER the driving experience our tour was scheduled for ~4:45 in the afternoon, you also get a nice drive of the mountains.

^^This....did Park Cty in the beginning of June. The event is very professionally run with first class accomodations, meals, organization, etc. It's not a race/track event, but it's great way to know the ST better...and have fun doing it.

I went a few weeks ago to Park City. The auto cross is a blast and even though you don’t go over 35-40mph the tires are screaming and everyone left with a permagrin on their face. Instructors are very knowledgeable and the facilities are top notch. We explored park city and Salt Lake City two days before. You can PM me if you have any specific questions that I might be able to answer.

We were there in late May and had a terrific time. My wife doesn't drive much so I got to take in the extra runs everywhere!! Good thing ... on the autocross, I dropped 14 full seconds between run number 1 and number 6!! #6 was a fairly respectable 34 seconds!! Top time in our group was 32-something. (The instructor gave us a show lap at about 27 seconds. She really smoked the course!!) The goody bag was nice and I decided to attach the "graduation" black ST badges.

I went the week before the 4th and had a blast. I heard the Park City off road experience is much better than the NC one, which makes sense with the mountains. I went alone so when we got to the track cross, or whatever they call the course in the parking lot, I got to run it all 6 times, lol. I left there wanting to get home and hammer my ST. There is a lot of driving on public roads with a line of ST's with Ford Performance Racing School plastered all over them so they are well known out there, since they run it almost every day, but I would highly recommend it. I learned a few things about features that I wasn't using properly and now make a lot of sense and improved my daily driving experience.
The other thing that was pretty cool was shooting the biathlete .22's, same style guns they use in the Olympics, at the venue where they held the competition in the 1984 Winter Olympics. There were a number of people that didn't want to shoot so many of us got to shoot twice. We did one round with the big targets and one with the little targets.

That’s awesome Patrick, thank you for all this information. I am scheduled to do this with my son in a couple weeks. We are pretty damn excited.

I believe the Olympics held in Park City were the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics. I too look forward to the shooting portion of the experience.
