Been following this thread for past several weeks. Here is my story. Spoiler: Looks like some potential good news for a few of us here is forthcoming.
I ordered the below Ford Explorer Limited on 3/27/23:
2023 Explorer Limited Intelligent 4WD:
- 2.3L EcoBoost® I-4 Engine with Auto Start-Stop Technology
- 10-Speed Automatic Transmission
- Forged Green Metallic
- Ebony Leather-Trimmed with Micro Perforated Inserts and Accent Stitching
- 20” Premium Painted Aluminum Wheels
- 301A High Package
- Ford Co-Pilot360™ Assist+
- Terrain Management System™
Since then, my experience has been the same as most everyone else on this thread.
Ford status page says it's been in production since 7/20. My window sticker says it was built on 7/19 and sitting in Chicago.
Here's the chat traffic I had with a FordChat representative this morning:
"Hey X, can you tell me the delivery status of my explorer and if you have any other information you can provide me regarding my vehicle and the 360 recall?"
"Hi, Steven! My name is X. Give me just a moment to read over your message....
I can absolutely look into your order for you!"
"I'd like you to look in your internal system. Not the one I see. The one I see says in production week of 7/20. When I've called before I've been told my vehicle is built and in chicago.
The window sticker reflects the same."
"We always use our internal system here, Steven so that won't be an issue."
"Awesome! what do you see regarding delivery date?
"So your general status is still the same, in regards to it being fully produced and located in CHicago still, but your ETA window is Sep-13-2023 - Sep-19-2023. Please continue to check in here, with your dealership, and by utilizing the vehicle order tracking website (link below), for updates on your order:

"Thank you. can you give me any other insights? What's holding it up if the vehicle is ready and th3 360 camera is good?"
"Well from what I can see on my end there are no shipping delays, and your Priority code is actually as urgent as it gets with it being a 1. I believe your vehicle is now going through the standard shipping process. Since your priority code is so high it is very well possible that your ETA window can be moved up a few days, Steven."
"well that's fantastic news! When did the priority code elevate to 1? And would you mind explaining what (if anything) has changed over the past several days regarding this issue?"
"I see that your priority code elevated on 8/31. In regards to your 360 camera there is no blatant information. Were you informed that your vehicle has this issue?"
"I've been told that my vehicle is one of 20k 2023 explorers waiting in chicago.

I think most of these explorers were affected in some way or another by the 360 camera recall issue."
I'm not sure why my Priority code got elevated. FWIW, I do remember having a very pleasant conversation on the phone with one of the Ford customer service representatives last Thursday. Honestly, all the customer service reps I've interacted with over the phone or thru Ford chat over the past few weeks have been awesome. I feel for all those people fielding calls from annoyed customers like us.
Personally, I'm optimistic that I'll get the vehicle soon. Regardless, it's too bad for all of us who've been stuck waiting. I've put about 16k on my old Lincoln MKT since March. When it eventually does happen, driving this new explorer off the lot will feel pretty fantastic.
FWIW, my experience with Bell Ford out of Arlington, WI (
(608) 635-4383) has been exceptional. My sales manager and rep couldn't tell me what I wanted to hear in when I reached out to them iregarding the delay, but they were responsive and helpful and made the whole thing easier to deal with. They were great.
Best of luck to everyone. I'll keep you posted as to any updates regarding my vehicle.
Thanks,
Steven
