Meanwhile, Ford in Europe says there are no issues at all

I am very jealous, but excited for the people that are able to take their STs home! My husband called our dealer today (08/10/23) they said we will not be able to have it until probably middle of Q4. He mentioned others being able to take deliveries of theirs. I wish Ford communication was better.

IMG_2221.jpeg Not sure with everyone else but I noticed that the “Remedy not available”is no longer there. Hopefully this is a good sign.

Our dealer has contacted multiple people with Ford & they are all telling him that any of the vehicles in dealer possession(used or new) sold or not the interim fix does NOT release the vehicles from the stop sale & dealers can not mark them delivered. As of now there is no work around for that & Ford is saying they won’t be released until there is a permanent fix. ‍♀️

With 2024s not far away from hitting the lots I’d imagine… the 24s definitely took a shot to the grill but sync 4 and full LED tail lights has my interest…

The Sync4 is why I want Sync3 lol and if I cannot get a 2023, it will not be another explorer

This is part of the verbiage if you expand the recall info:

Remedy

Currently, Ford Motor Company does not have a permanent fix available. If you observe a blue or black screen on the rearview 360 degree camera when in reverse, Ford has authorized your dealer to update the camera systems software as an interim repair prior to availability of the permanent fix. The interim repair is anticipated to become available beginning the week of August 7, 2023 and is being offered free of charge parts and labor.

Why would you not want the sync4?

Had it, and couldn’t stand it. The one perk being wireless carplay or android auto (which I never use anyway); otherwise, the thing was buggy as heck with heated seat and wheel controls, whereas they do not turn off if you try for the first few minutes that the car is in operation, the map resolution/street name details were junk when compared to sync3 (ie. Open both side by side and you can see street names for every road on the map in sync 3, maybe 2 of these names will display in sync 4 - it presumes that you never look at the map to actually find your own routes/shortcuts or care what is nearby), and most annoying of all are the climate control - having to hit a menu on the touchscreen, wait, hit another option, and keeping your eyes off the road for a chunk of this process is stupidly useless. They should have all climate functions avaible without submenus. Just hate it.

I took a shot of the map resolution when in an Explorer the other month, but then forgot to do the same thing with sync 4 after that to compare

so you were told there would a solution come September and not an actual fix come September?
They told me a parts by the end of august and ETA of arrival is early September (but of course, doubt that. They are feeding me any BS to keep the sale I feel)
I was told today by a local dealership that it will be the 4th quarter. At one point he told me late December. I’ve heard so many different things I don’t know what to believe anymore.

On the Sync 3 vs Sync 4 debate:

FWIW, you can make Sync 3 be wireless using this device.

Carlinkit 5.0 2air CarPlay Wireless Adapter,Android Auto Dongle-Latest Release, for OEM Wired CarPlay and Android Auto Car,Auto Connect, OTA Update, for iPhone and Android, via Plug-in USB Connection https://a.co/d/ioQVn5U

I use them in all our Sync 3 vehicles and it does the job. There is a section where you can adjust the media latency (the delay from your phone to the unit) and you can go as low as 25 ms of delay so its *almost near what native wireless car play is now.

I did mess around with a newer APIM module capable of Sync 4 and got some things working but ultimately the dongle with the media latency ended up being the best solution.

We started using the same dongle in our ST and I’ll admit, with the larger screen it’s weird. It puts CarPlay on the top half with the radio on the bottom half. I’ll have to look into the settings again to see if I can make it go full portrait. But as is, works almost as well as having native CarPlay.

I guess I did not consider all those item.. all I wanted really from sync4 is the wireless car play that my F-150 has . Thanks for the info.

Yeah that’s all I really cared about was wireless CarPlay. If you do go the CarLinkIt route, LMK if you need any help setting it up. The directions can be a little unclear.
