Anyone know how long it should take to address the recall? My atlas blue ST has been on the dealer lot for over a week waiting for the recall issue to be addressed… I thought it was a simple software update??
On the fractured rear bolt/recall thread (elsewhere on this board), FordMatt (who works for Ford I do believe), says the "fix" for the recall has been out there since 11 May I'm pretty sure, and yes, it should be just programming the PCM to do the electronic brake "fix". That said, when I called one dealer who has an ST on the way, they said "we won't sell it to you anyway, because they have to replace that bolt and that won't happen until the 3rd Quarter". Of course every other Dealer/person I've talked to (and that post by FordMatt) says that's BS. The fix for non police vehicles is indeed the PCM reprogram. That is out there.....as I've seen ST's fixed already (just get their window sticker....go to Ford's recall portion of the website....put in the VIN....and see if it's fixed). All of Stivers (Montgomery dealer) STs have been fixed, for instance. My Dealer says if they would just run an "Oasis Report" ( I think that's the term), they'd see the fix is the PCM program, no parts needed....and out there since 11 May. IF a bolt breaks, then the fix for that....of course....is the bolt.....per a service bulletin. But that's different than the recall. The NHTSA safety recall .....that fix, is just programming the PCM to engage the electronic brake as soon as you place the vehicle in Park. And to automatically turn the Ebrake off, IF.....1) driver door is closed 2) transmission placed in R or D and 3) give it some gas.
I think unfortunately some Dealers are misinformed and think they're waiting on the bolt in the 3rd quarter. That's only true for Police models. MAKE them run that Oasis report (or whatever it's called)....talk to the Service Manager at your dealer (often Sales people don't know the facts on a recall). If they look into it properly, they should see it's readily fixable in minutes now. Stivers did 6 STs in mere hours.....over a week ago.
But I don't have my ST yet....so I could be "full of it". I don't think so.............
