Correct! But Norton keeps stopping from the app from downloading from the FP site...
Trust or don't. It's up to you - disable Norton and proceed, or don't.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, install is complete with no issues. The ST starts now heading out for the 1st trip down Pacific Coast Hwy. Appreciate your input guys!

I know it calls for 91 or 93 octane (we generally only have 91 here) but has anyone using it been running 89 with any issues? Would there be any issues running 89 vs 91 or 93?

I only run 91 and in sport mode exclusively and so far it performs well though I haven't looked for the extra 30 hp yet. I believe it will run fine on 89 but you will not see the full benefit of the FP tune.

careful on the 1 right now, the conditions are horrible in some spots with debris and road closures. I’m stuck in some little town on the California coast because of the storm shut the highway down

If you still have a warranty, their website says its null and void if you use less than 91 octane

Where to buy the performance tune for ST?
What are the pros and cons?
Is it available in all 50 states? (For CA people)
Is it a dealer installed or DYI feature?
What about the premium care warranty after tune?

Might be repeat (silly) questions, but I was not able to find clear answers after browsing 32 pages here. We really need some sticky posts/threads for the forum.

I used 87 for first tank because I filled up before the tune was installed, no issues.

Running 91 all the time now

All of your questions have been bantered, argued, and discussed in the previous 32 pages but no need to worry because the FP tune is not available for your 2022 in California. Watch Steeda or Lethal Performance for the best price if you choose to move on it.

Having driven Hwy 1 from Santa Monica to the Oregon line on 2 wheels and 4 wheels there are worst places you could be stuck but you better head for higher ground like the 101 or the 5 because there's more rain coming. I'm way farther south in Seal Beach, CA.

Makes me want it even more now..
Anyway I'm not a person needing anything more than what Ford is offering in the stock form. I'm interested only because it's from Ford.

Next obvious question, anyone in California can drive to a neighborhood state and get it done?

I think the issue may be with inspection? Which needs to be whatever state the car is registered in. I’m still not sure how the 20-21 is okay but not 22.

The CA Inspection Centers are not going to get anything that tells them anything from exhaust so can the Inspectors check the engine calibration and determine if its the stock calibration?.....thats crazy. I bet they would never know.

Here is the executive order from California. To me it just acknowledges that the tune does not affect any emissions on the car. It also to me seems like California just hasn’t updated it to include the 2022 year of vehicles. No 2022 ford is included in this order of exemption.

You're correct, I'm a former CA Smog Tech/BAR Trainer and a factory tune would not be identified during a normal emmissions inspection.

this is a curious question though. im thinking that the Ford Performance Tune would be found during inspection since all 2000 and newer cars use OBDII and visual inspections not the sniff test anymore. Thus the reason why you cant get this tune in CA as of yet. the reality of it though is new cars in CA dont require a smog inspection for the first 7 years of its life so you may be fine with the tune as by that time it will have passed CARB and be allowed in CA since its a "Factory" tune.

Another reality is, these tunes as well as ZFG can be removed at any time so when it comes down to smogging the car all you need to do is revert back to the stock tune, smog it and put it back on barring you have any other non-CARB legal mods.

That's correct, most likely by the time they get to the first emissions test the 2022 should be approved anyway. The OBDII test checks for MIL status (on or off), DTC's, and Mode $06 monitor status, the BAR OIS doesn't check for software versions yet as far as I know. (I let my license lapse a few years ago so I could be wrong lol!). That's why I say most smog techs would most likely not catch the Ford Tune, I don't know if any of the aftermarket tunes still display correct monitor status or not since I haven't looked at them yet. But yes, if someone was concerned they can revert to stock for the inspection like you said. I remember failing a Honda years ago because all of the monitors had passed...even on systems not equipped on the vehicle. I never saw the vehicle again so I don't know what happened.

10 days in on the FP Tune with K&N drop in, Gibson axle back, and 91 octane. Self installed in less than an hour after a little issue with the anti virus program on my laptop (nothing to do with the tune). My startup routine every time, Start button, release the parking brake, spin the mode to SPORT. Throttle response noticeably improved, shifting much smoother though I do a lot of paddle downshifting in D (love the fact that it now downshifts on it's own), and I haven't really found that extra 30 hp yet as it's been raining for most of those 10 days.......
