Fullscreen Android Auto/CarPlay Mod Is Here for Sync3 10P Screen!! [FMods Team 10 Pees]

Hey all,

ilovepancakes95 from Team 10 Pees here. On the Fmods Forum/Telegram with the help of some recent new people attacking the project, especially Kaz Wolfe and Pascal Kolkman we have finally (after YEARS of work) developed a mod to get Fullscreen Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Peter P, Au{R}oN, and RSmerdon have been instrumental in this venture too.

See below link for download and install details. Read the directions carefully and join the Telegram if you need help.

You do need to do some prep work to your Sync3 ahead of installing the mod if you haven't been involved with Fmods before and we still are testing some features like hiding top and bottom menu bars for true fullscreen but the base functionality works! Feel free to join the testing if you are comfortable, otherwise wait for a full stable release which isn't far off.

This really work and easy to install,I hope they can do the same with the 360 camera.
For those who want to install it, it only works on the latest version of Sync 3.4.23188. This is an alpha version currently at revision 5 v2, and over time, there will be some improvements.
The interface is a bit laggy, but it's not very noticeable if you're already used to it. However, it makes a 10/10 difference and gives the vehicle a more modern look.

Does the registration take a few days? I signed up yesterday but haven't seen anything back. Would love to do this, im well out of warranty and stuck with this thing for a few more years so... an update like this might make me love it again which has been a struggle lately lol.

Yes, but we are working on a version that allows the user to configure if they want to hide the bottom and/or top bars in Sync if they want. If you hide both you get an awesome true full screen view with no Sync UI elements shown during projection. See below test I just ran. We are working out some kinks.

This is something the team very briefly discussed as a desired "next project" but it is wayyyy more involved. The RVC is part of lower level system processes because it is a safety critical component. In fact, it loads the camera view before Sync is even fully booted. You can see this if you shift into reverse right after the car is turned on, the camera will come up right away on screen even though the rest of UI hasn't booted. So a mod to move that view around and resize will be complicated. But, we have seen the mock ups of people's preferred layout and I think are up to investigating further.

This is awesome! I'm assuming if there are any future updates to Sync3, it will override this? And, if someone wishes to go back to regular sync3, is that possible?
