For some reason I haven't gotten an activation email yet to log in. It said it could take a few days so maybe thats what im waiting on. Hopefully so.
Check your spam. Looked for mine all day when I thought to check there.

Saw this initially on the FB group and thought it was too good to be true. Waiting for time this weekend to sit and get this installed. Even Alpha it can't be worse then normal Sync issues lol.

Jailbreak is very timing dependent. I would recommend you hook up a battery charger (if you don't want to keep the engine running) and use Forcan to initiate the reboot so you can time it better. I used Forscan Lite with my iphone. Still took 10 tries for me.

Not a matter of couldn't but that they just didn't want to. The crazy thing is, all of the code to do "fullscreen" projection is already part of the binaries they included in Sync!
I think the industry term is "we will fix it in version 2"....... It also didn't help Sync 3 was DOA when the Explorer was redesigned in 2020

@ilovepancakes How do I get this screen? When I cycle through the different screens, I only see one with three apps at the bottom and the map at the top. I prefer this one because the map is larger, and the two apps at the bottom are smaller.

Btw awesome work! So far I am loving it.

Using my wireless Carplay dongle, I am getting frequent disconnects. The device does not feel warm so am guessing that it doesn't have the processing power needed to handle the full screen map and music active. I went back to wired and all seems fine--maybe less laggy as well. Again, I am blown away by the full screen Apple Maps.

to switch the view use this button in the lower left corner, which changes its icon

Got it all working yesterday. Had a little struggle getting the first file in but once I did that it went pretty smooth. I gotta say I'm super happy with this update. This is what the ST has needed for so long. You guys did an awesome thing here! Can't thank you enough!

So stoked to try this over the weekend. You guys needed 4 thumb drives for the software files?

Which make/model dongle do you have?

It's called Mavlou and bought a few months ago--previously was pretty solid with very few disconnects. Now I'm not sure that's the problem though. I just had two disconnects in a short period of time WIRED. It'll disconnect from Carplay and then 3-4 seconds later will reconnect like nothing happened. Will reboot my phone (iphone 14 pro max, iOS 18.3) and SYNC... observe some more.

Update: changed wired lightening cable (from previous Etsy cubby mount) and connection is rock solid. definitely less lag wired compared to wireless. Would definitely recommend others try this.

OK yeah a lot of times the cable is the problem. I ran CarPlay fullscreen yesterday for 2 hour drive and no disconnects at all or issues. Was with a 16 Pro.

I used two. One for the jailbreak, the other for the daemon. Once you know the jail break was successful (logos and install info displayed after daemon tools USB inserted), you can just overwrite with the Tools and the Fullscreen Mod using the same two USBs. As was mentioned in the thread info, KEEP the Fullscreen Mod USB intact after you use it, as it has back files from the install on it.

That’s how I worked it out when reading through. Appreciate the insights.

Subbing to this thread as well as I'm one of the team members (specifically the person doing the Sync3 code digging). Pleasure to meet all of you!

As of the time of posting, I'm currently getting ready to test our beta2 release, which will be making the following changes:
  • Added options to hide the status bar and menubar for each of Android Auto and CarPlay.
  • Added options to reduce framerate to 30fps for higher resolution modes.
  • Fixed a showstopper bug that caused Android Auto scaling to not work properly.
    • This did require we sacrifice a log line that would have been printed to pas_debug.log. Apologies!
  • Modified yet another binary file to allow showing the Ford icon in CarPlay.
I hope to get this out to the FMods thread some time tomorrow if all goes well. While ilovepancakes did a wonderful job explaining things, I do want to note that this is a mod like any other: there are risks inherent to doing this. Our work does not go through the same QA process it would at Ford (ok, sorry, I had a hard time saying that with a straight face), and it can do unexpected things. The mod installer we've created will back up your original SYNC files before mangling them, but please please please ensure you're saving those backups somewhere! You will need them if you ever want to revert this mod, as there's no easy way to uninstall it otherwise.

This mod has been the culmination of a couple years of work by a lot of very talented people (plus a less-talented me from a week ago), and I'm very proud to have worked alongside them to get the final pieces across the finish line. I can't say how much more we can do with Sync as that remains to be seen, but I'm hopeful we can get some more love for the 10.1" users out there.

Anxiously awaiting the beta2 release. I was just reading through the install instructions and I'm going to attempt it tomorrow.
