The transmission in my 2020 Explorer st has been rebuilt and replaced at least 4 times. This latest transmission repair lasted about 3 weeks before the car started jerking. I towed it to the Ford dealership that did the repair. Now they're saying it's because my grill shutters aren't working and want me to pay $3,000 to repair the shutters. I can't find anything online that collaborates Ford's diagnosis or price. Any advice?

So let me get this straight, the dealer is saying that the shutters are the problem why the transmisssion is jerking?

Maybe, and a very big maybe, by the shutters not opening, the fluid is not being properly cooled which is causing the transmission to overheat? I know it's a very long reach but maybe that's what they are trying to say.

The car would throw a fault code though if the tranny was overheating.

I was assuming it did. OP didn’t mention there were no codes and I don’t think all transmission codes will cause a CEL. I was just trying to come up with something, anything, that might be plausible. LOL!

I'm crying too, with laughter! Tasca Ford in Yonkers?? Actually I think all Ford dealerships are shady at this point. I don't know about codes but Ford said when they put it on whatever only a code for the grill shutters come up. 2 weeks after I picked it up all kinds of warnings kept popping up in that box on the dash. But no check engine or wrench

Doesn't the tow screen in the cluster have a temperature gauge for the transmission? If so, would be an easy check to see if the temperature is high when it starts to jerk.

If the shutters were malfunctioning causing overheating, the entire vehicle will be in an overheat state, not just the transmission as the trans cooler is in the cooling circuit.

I'm sure glad mine doesn't have the shutters and still average 20.9 mpg in mixed driving.
