Just finished this. Found a metal storage box from Amazon that fit under the floor and above the spare tire cover. Ran a bolt from spare tire through the cover and into the bottom of the box. Still have spare tire and provides hidden & lockable storage for tools, laptop, firearm, purse, etc.

Can you put together a part list? I love this.

Part list is very simple. Here’s the $135 box that I used. There are plenty of different sizes available. I secured it to the spare tire below the floor with a long bolt plus a couple washers and nuts that I had lying around. Please note this box isn’t custom designed for the explorer, so the fit isn’t perfect like one of the $2K safes that law enforcement uses in their explorers. It could probably be broken into with a crow bar and some time. But it is hidden and strong enough to keep the smash and grab bad guys out If they found it. Happy to answer any other questions you may have.

Are you still able to use the cover on top of that box? Pretty much exactly what I’m after

Damn! Lock’er Down Is closed now. Just filed bankruptcy in Oct. I do like the Amazon alternative option but that modded Lock’er Down looks sweet.

Yes. Still able to use the cover with the box in place. The handle and lock are a tight fit and can be a little tight to reach but it’s doable. Again - it’s a custom fit so not perfect, but I use it daily when using public parking lots and needing to secure my laptop. My ST was totaled and I’m now in a 22 limited - but I was able to take all accessories and other stuff out of the ST and reuse in the new explorer. Let me know if you want to see any more pics to be sure you know like the fit.

I found them on Temu for under $100. The exact one you have here. It seems to me that it could have been deeper than 6 inches. Maybe another 3" or more. This is a capital idea!!! I have a console safe coming in... it will stop the smash and grabs but not a determined thief. There is another space that I would love to utilize in a similar manner. In the middle of the 2nd row bench seat is a space that is available to play with. That seat doesn't adjust unless it is only to fold it down. I'm thinking I can either get a box that will fit or I can try and weld two plates, front and back with hinges and a similar lock. Another thought I had is removing the third row altogether. I really don't need that row and then doing something similar. Last night Dora my Explorer was broken into and they cleaned out my go bag. Any locking semisecure spots would be a life saver. Anyone delete that third row and use that as secure storage?
