Currently driving a 2017 Explorer Sport in black and considering a 2021 ST in gray. I have a recurring issue with the idle sometimes 'hunting' with revs going up and down +/- 500 rpm. The dealer replaced a faulty wiring harness but the issue keeps coming back. I love the truck otherwise. I read that the 2021 has other reliability issues. Anyone have a comment?

No issues with ours, just hit 5k during a road trip though. We traded in our 2018 XLT 4 Cyl Ecoboost with H&R Springs, no issues with that one either.

Congrats on the new ST. My experience; no issues mechanically and nothing like that idle/rev you described. The new drivetrain is terrific - assuming it lasts a long time. Only issue we had was the back-up camera feed sometimes turning into a useless blue screen, but it's rare and it's a known issue and now an official recall to fix something in the wiring. I'll do it eventually but it doesn't go blue often enough for me to deal with it.

Do yourself a favor and do a good research even on this forum. This car has a lot of issues. Mine is in the shop for a month out of two owning it.

My Explorer ST has been almost perfect. Some minor rattling but it's been great. I came from a 2013 Explorer and I would say its worth the buy.

Thanks for the feedback everybody. I ended up ordering a 2022 in carbonized grey. I'm in Toronto Canada and I'm told its 8 to 16 weeks for delivery. I'll either trade in my Explorer Sport or sell privately.

Congrats, I have a carbonized gray coming too. Not sure about Canada but here if you trade in you don't pay taxes on the amount of your trade in. Could be worth $2500 more or so given that.

I hate selling cars, so it was an easy sell for me. So many time wasting tire kickers.

Same tax situation on canada. I figure the tax you save is about equal to the extra you could get selling privately. Does the 2022 still come with the Pirelli scorpion p zeros? And does this truck use premium fuel?
