In the past two weeks I have seen 2 Explorer STs for sale with full moldings that match the car color but the insert on the side is either black or red along with the same color inserts on the front and back bumpers. What option is this?

Not sure it's something you can order. We've had members paint theirs.

That’s custom work, not a Ford option.

Nope, not an option. That red ST has a 'Preston' dealer tag frame. They are like 2 miles from me. Their body shop may have painted it.

Yes but the entire ground effect kit around the car and wheel well is normally black not color matched. Doesn’t that impact the paint warranty? Here is a normal one for reference.

No. You aren’t touching the areas on the car that were painted by the factory. How would painting something that want supposed to be painted affect the warranty on the parts they did paint?

Looks much cleaner. I’ve got a good friend that has a body shop. I will be color matching mine shortly after I get it. The red one looks like it may have gloss black wrap in the middle of the side skirt. Or they are painted gloss black.
