Evening,

Just picked up a 42k 2020 400a ST on Monday. I have to say, its an amazing vehicle. It seems to have all the options except the brake/wheel upgrade. I'm coming from a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel 6peed manual with 220k on it so this thing feels like the complete opposite, I love it.

It has an exhaust rattle, noticeable on cold start or heavy braking. I used this to get a lower price. I then saw one of the recalls was exhaust related so I'm taking it in tomorrow to my local dealer for that and the camera recall. I'm guessing the rattle is related but if not, at least they will have their head in there and can tell me what it is.

I'm trying to get some eyes on it before the powertrain warranty is out. Anything I should have them check while they have it up on a lift?

Love this thing. I keep finding stuff... like the wireless charge pad.

The rattling is caused by the crappy flex pipes on these cars. I believe there was a TSB on it but unless you have an ESP you probably have to pay out of pocket. Good excuse to get an exhaust. All the common problems on these cars are very apparent, so unless anything has jumped out at you you’re probably perfectly fine. Welcome to the forum and congrats!

It would be a great reason to put an exhaust on it. I've heard some clips online and for a V6, these do sound good with the right setup. I have to be honest though, I've been listening to the drone of a 5inch turbo back for tens of thousands of miles lol. I might look into doing an electronic cutout, I've done it on prior vehicles with good results.

Just the broken seat trim but that's nothing. Already found it cheap thanks to this forum!

Thank you!

Absolutely!

I took it to the dealer, they replaced the rear camera and harness as per the recall. They said BOTH cat inlets are cracked and that's the rattle I hear, as I suspected. They are going to replace both, so that's awesome. I think they have to because of the federal emissions warranty but its super nice not having them balk and just do it without asking. The write up says they did a 92(I believe) point inspection and I asked if anything stood out and was told it looks great.

I haven't ever experienced a Ford dealer before and its been smooth sailing so far. Will get it back tomorrow and it should be mint.

I took it out to the river today with the family. I just snapped 1 pic but here she is:

Thank you all for the welcome!
The catalytic heat shields could cause rattling but not cracking on the welds of the down pipes. If the rattling continues it is guaranteed those flex pipes.

Good call out. I hope this fixes it but a new exhaust isn't the end of the world, was in the plans anyway.

Isn't this a covered item under Ford emissions warranty?
