Jump Starter

Can anyone recommend a good portable jump starter? I've seen quite a few online but I prefer to ask here. Thank you!

I have the Noco GB40. Haven’t had to use it yet but the reviews convinced me it’ll get the job done. During Amazon events, it can be bought for around $60 to $65.

I have the Noco GB150 ($300) and I love it. It starts anything. I also have the Noco Genius 10 ($100) as a trickle charger / desulfator.

THIS!! I have one in every car in the fam. I also have the Big Boy GB150 that'll start my Duramax or Motorhome diesel.

I also recently bought the Noco Genius 1. Because the ST isn’t driven often and mostly they’re relatively short trips, the battery doesn’t remain fully charged and the vehicle hibernates. I like the idea of maintaining the battery with only a 1 amp charge. So far, the Genius 1 is working perfectly

Edit: See MikeHTally's pick a few post down. That is the proper position for ground...the nut above the BMS sensor.

From what I understand, if you add a permanent connection line to connect to, you can do so at the battery terminals. If you are attaching alligator clips like you were jumping the car, then positive clamp goes to battery+ and ground clamp to chassis ground.

I read somewhere that connecting the negative directly to the battery takes some part of the vehicle’s monitoring out of the equation and isn’t the preferred method.

Doesn't matter to me if the BMS gets bypassed. I do not use auto-start/stop and am interested in only in maintaining the battery during a long period of inactivity or a shorter period in extreme cold. I also disabled Ford from getting feedback, don't have the car connected to wifi, and disabled auto-update--all to save battery. Haven't had any more issues with deep sleep like I did when the car was new.

Edit: I just looked at my trickle charger pig tail. I have the ground on the nut above the BMS sensor and not the ground of the battery.

I was just now poking around under the hood. I’m thinking a connection to the positive at the fuse block (driver’s side) and to a nearby frame bolt.

If you get the DelTran charger (I use the 4.5A on the ST), it'll come with a variety of connectors. Use the short pigtail direct to the battery. I have the charger mounted near the garage door with a 25' extension hanging on a hook outside. When it seems necessary, I pop the hood and route the cable to the pigtail

[mention]UNBROKEN [/mention] has a slick setup I copied. Mounted in the plastic in front of the battery. Has an led for charge level too. Do a search on his posts.

The Noco GB40 is all that is needed for personal use. I've had mine for 3 years now and charge it once a year. It barely needs much of a charge.
