Here is some comparison data if anyone is interested.
With the intercooler change there was a drastic drop in IAT2 temps.
It was a little warmer for the data after the intercooler swap, but the delta's still show the story.
This is on a 91 BoostKing tune that is a ideal DD tune for me and the Wife.
These numbers are at 6000ft + DA
Max airflow 42#/Min
~16lbs of boost
WOT run data 0-120mph
Stock intercooler
Ambient 68*
Intake 73*
IAT2 Min during WOT 99*
IAT2 Max during WOT 167*
IAT Max Delta 94*
Average timing 0* BTDC
KR -1 to -1.5
Whipple Intercooler
Ambient 77*
Intake 90*
IAT2 Min during WOT 93*
IAT2 Max during WOT 100*
IAT Max Delta 10*
Average timing 2* BTDC
KR +2 to -0.6
I am assuming that things with the stock intercooler would be even worse at higher boost levels, so pretty happy to gain a decent amount of power through the pull and have overall more consistent temps which lead to more consistent timing.
