That sounds like the dealer really doesn't want to replace it. Did you get it fixed?

Did your pinion bearing show any symptoms when you had the OEM parts?
So, took it to a reputable tire shop and they confirmed irregular wear pattern to the inside tread on all four tires (sawtooth type wear pattern). The tire shop's theory was bad shocks caused the wear. I recently replaced all 4 shocks, so it shouldn't happen again. Purchased 295 40 R21 Continentals and should have them installed in the next week. They also found I have a bad left rear wheel bearing (clicking). Once new tires are installed, I'll take it back to the dealer with the diagnostic paperwork and video from the tire shop.

No symptoms other than noise, only noticeable after JXBs were installed.

No way any dealer is going to address diff bearing issues if the noise is only when you have aftermarket parts on and nonexistent when you remove all that stuff.

Seems like that would be easy to understand huh?

So with a stock setup, you go to your dealer and say you think it has a bad pinion bearing. There is no noise. What do you think their response is going to be? Let me tell you. They are going to say they hear no noise, there is no signs of oil leak from the seals. They are not going to do a damn thing further. Maybe they will even charge you $150 for diagnostics.

A bad pinion bearing is a bad pinion bearing. Right?
But what if it isn’ta bad pinion bearing and just NVH that was gained? If you didn’t feel it without the parts, it shouldn’t be a problem to a dealer.

There are examples in this thread of no additional NVH after JXB install. There also is a difference between NVH and grinding. The grinding is audible while the car is on a lift.

I was more or less referring to the horrible Steeda Pinion Bushings. And I don’t understand this:

You’re driving the car on a lift?

The car was running on a lift to identify the source of the grinding sound.

I just saw a failure of the Steeda front pinion bushing on social media. I assume this is what you're referring to? @2020FordRaptor Do you have experience with these failing?

It sounds like installing these parts helped reveal a problem that was already there, but was being masked by the stock NVH levels. These parts helped amplify the sound and you were able to hear the issue after the parts went on.

If the noise is still there with the OEM parts, then the dealer should cover it. It's unfortunate that you'll have to uninstall and go back to stock just to have the dealer agree to it.

Exactly. Regardless of how the sound was found (through the installation of aftermarket stiffeners) the sound indicates a failure of a warranted part. In my opinion, its kind of screwy that the OEM condition/parts mask an indicator (sound) of a potential failure. Good thing the JBX stiffeners are easy to remove.

Yes it has become a hot topic. Apparently a lot of them have failed on people, I was never a fan of them in the first place because they didn’t do anything and they cause a lot of NVH.
