Yeeeeees? My point was the stock air boxes proximity to the radiator seems to have a significant impact on air temps no matter where that air is coming from and what temp that air is before it gets there.
Except it really doesn’t.

You run a fenfab intake I'm betting, and you're defensive about what you perceive is a critique on it. Which is dumb because what I was saying to the person I was responding to was "yeah, the air is probably cooler because of where it's drawing air from." You just regurgitated what I said when you replied to me.

I've read most of this forum, back to page 81 of the general discussion board, back to page 20 of Ecoboost Engine Upgrades, back to page 48 of Maintenance, Warranty Issues and Trouble, etc., ect. I've read a lot of posts. I'm dipping out of this thread before it gets unbrokened derailed any further.

I run S&B and Afe before that. Never FenFab.
I don’t need to read back that far in this forum…I’m one of the people that’s been here since basically the beginning. I also know how IAT’s and underhood temps work…and I’ve written a lot of posts about them.

Somewhat on topic…kinda…I am interested in an S & B intake. I’ve mentioned on another post I’d like to stay with an enclosed intake. What are your thoughts on the RAM Air attachment they offer? In my brain I feel like “more air in” is good…but is it really more? Does that piece even do anything? I mean…I feel pretty confident in saying it’s not game changing…but in theory it seems like it does somewhat help redirect some of that air to the factory opening. In asking this I’m not looking for or expecting gains…just looking to see if there’s logic there. It just seems like that factory inlet tube from the grill to the intake box is so limiting…compared to let’s say the FenFab setups where the filters are just out in the open.

Those are just a gimmick. Look kinda cool behind the grille, but won’t do anything.

I think that people love the sound of the FenFab v2 so much because the filters aren't in a box and sound louder and more bad ass that they try and justify having filters not in a air box. I would love to see IAT comparisons between the intakes. Like ZFG said the flow differences between the intakes is minimal but IATs on the other hand might be telling

Yeah but measuring while stationary isn't ideal. I'm sure improvements could be made (which there's aftermarket solutions, just not sure if they actually work) for better airflow to the intake. that being said, I think the most effective upgrade is in the bigger intercooler in getting cooler temps to motor.
