I haven't driven a Ford in years. I switched to Nissan for the last six years. I am thinking about purchasing a 2025 Ford Explorer ST. I want to get opinions and details from those who have purchased or leased an Explorer, including any mechanical issues. Any and all information is appreciated.

Thanks

I have a 2020 St and I will say its been a very good Vehicle. I have only owned it for about 10 months. When I got it (under Certified Gold Warranty) it had to have the Exhaust Flex pipe replaced, and the rear folding seat module replaced. a month later it needed a drivers side folding Mirror assembly as the gear broke. Rear Widow replaced due to heating element went bad. All of this was under Warranty. I have done all required services and no Mechanical issues with the drivetrain. I have replaced the stock exhaust with a Thermal R&D 2.5" exhaust and installed a Oil Catch Can. I am not sure if there have been any major issues with the 25 ST yet. But seems most folks are happy with there cars.

The Flex pipes are notorious issues for ST exhausts.

I'm loving my 25 ST. I had a 23 ST before and I consider the 25 a solid upgrade. The new infotainment system is the best that I have had in any vehicle. BlueCruise is pretty neat if you do a lot of highway driving. With the ST you get a quick 3rd row SUV with AWD that can take you most places, tow 5,000lbs, and put a smile on your face when you mash the throttle from a stop.

To keep it real, with the ST you will have a sport tuned suspension so it does ride a little more firm than other similiar SUV's. And with twin turbos, it can be a little thirsty if you hit the throttle a lot. :D

My last vehicle was a 2019 Mazda CX-9 GT which I bought new 6 years ago and it was trouble free. I was happy enough with the Mazda experience but did not like the new CX-90 replacement so shopped for a Grand Highlander but there were none to be had. I also looked at the Honda Pilot Elite and it was fine but kind of boring. I always liked the look of the Explorer but was worried about reliability issues, so I lurked on forums like this one and checked out numerous online reviews and was reassured with what I saw. Originally I thought I'd get a Platinum with the 3.0 but the ST had been on my dealer's lot awhile so they made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I've only had it about 3 months, and don't drive very much but so far I'm pleased and enjoy it more the my CX-9. Good luck.
