My ST just died while driving and I need a tow. First guy showed up with a regular tow truck and I refused to let him tow it even though he insisted it would be fine to tow it from the rear. I called AAA and explained so they are sending another company with a flatbed. Can they just put the vehicle in neutral to pull it up on the flatbed or do I have to disconnect the transmission using the switch in the center console?

Use the switch so it can be put into neutral.

That’s what I thought. I just have to find something to flip the switch with. I usually have a small tool box in the back but I took it out the other day and haven’t put it back. Hopefully the driver has something. I’ve read it can be a bitch to flip that switch to! Thanks for the fast reply!

I've seen people use the key from your fob.

I’ll try that. Hopefully it moves easily!

I did check the book. Couldn’t put it in neutral because the vehicle was completely dead. AAA wasn’t the problem, it was the idiot that came out the first time. AAA said they specified a flatbed. Second guy was really good. Got it loaded ok.

No, we used a screwdriver. I was afraid it was going to break! It wasn’t that hard to switch with the screwdriver though.

Got a call from the dealership and initial diagnostics is showing the PCM failed. There goes all my Forscan changes and I’ll need an updated tune.

Damn man that sucks, hope you have an extended warranty cause that bill isn't going to be cheap. Let alone the time for the Forscan time you have invested and time and money for a new tune.

Thankfully I do have an extended warranty! I’ll have to spend the time making all the changes with Forscan again but I won’t have to purchase a new tune. I’ll just have to have him update it. Might be a small fee for that but not the full cost of a new tune.

Just quit! Driving down the freeway and it just died. Glad I was on the freeway too because it’s a bitch to steer with no power! Thankfully I was in the middle lane and was able to get over ok. Now it’s just playing the waiting game.

Is the extended warranty going to cover it with all the aftermarket powertrain mods?

I’m sure there won’t be an issue about that. Nothing I’ve added could have killed the PCM! If they could find the tune it might be an issue but with the PCM being unreadable they won’t see it.

I’m thinking I should post this in the Good Clean Jokes and Humor thread! I stopped by the dealership today and they told me the PCM may have got too hot and failed because of the cover I have on it! I couldn’t help but laugh.
