Picked up a 2021 ST last night here in Dallas...

2021 Carbonized Gray
no sunroof
tech package
street package

Took 3 dealers to get a deal going.

Dealer 1 was working on a left over 2020. They present "the deal" which is like 20% off MSRP... ok good good... then they spring the "$3995 dealer add ons that are non-negotiable"... ok full stop... im done... Your "good deal" is B.S...

Dealer 2 and the sales guy was recommended by some good friends. Nice guy, very honest, small dealer, no inventory. Said he could get whatever i wanted but the deal wouldnt be great because they have to buy from other dealers at invoice, so the deal would be invoice minus rebates. I thanked him for his time and moved on.

Dealer 3 had exactly what I wanted(carbonized grey, no sunroof, but with tech and street packages). Their advertised "deal" was fair, not fantastic, but I figured "ok once I am in there we will work on real numbers".... go in, look at it, drive it, sit down and the guy brings out "the deal"... ooh whats this ~$2000 in dealer add-ons(I had told the sales guy from the first minute I was not going to deal with a single dealer add-on) and a really crap trade in offer... I said "ok thanks for your time" and he starts in with the "what does it take to make a deal today" so i take his "offer" and scratch out the dealer add on's and I write my minimum trade in value I will accept on the sheet. Comes back and says they will remove the dealer add-on stuff but they cant move on my trade... ok thanks, later... "hold on" then a manager comes out and starts to add $100 or so to the trade... nope... add's another $100... nope... (were like 2500 bucks apart)... he says "well I can give you that on the trade, but then the price of the Explorer goes up"... well that accomplishes exactly nothing... then this manager starts to be rude and badgering me... so I tell him full stop, that is not going to happen, were leaving... So off we go... The GM(this "managers" boss) chases us out into the parking lot... I explain that his manager was being unprofessional and badgering me and I dont appreciate that. He says "he has gone home for the night, let me make a call and see if I can get you where you need to be, give me 5 minutes, if I cant get there, were done, if I can get there we have a deal?"... sure... so we wait outside and he comes back in a few minutes with everything typed up and I accept it. So they knocked ~2000 of dealer add-ons off and came up $2500 on my trade allowance... Probably not the most smoking deal out there, but I was happy with it. There were some better deals to be had elsewhere but I would have had to compromise on options or color, so I am happy where I ended up.

Looking forward to doing a few mods, not quite sure yet. I want to remove the roof rails as I will never use them, so I will likely order the replacement pieces here soon. Need to get the windows tinted also, going to get high end Wincos ceramic with 99% IR and heat rejection. Will do 35% on the front and 70% the rest of the way around.

Welcome and congrats on the deal! Is that a Z06 next to it in the garage?

yea, its my beater POS Z06... it was cheap because it was neglected prior to me buying it. Im slowly bringing it back to life, needs rear end gears replaced and a full deep detail and a few other odds and ends addressed(ive already addressed a bunch). Ive had 6 Corvette's. Ill likely always own Corvette's. Currently have that 02 Z and I have a 96 Collectors Edition 6spd, LT4, Z51 with 41k miles... Also have had a 2019 Z06, 07 Z06, 07 base model and a 2011 Grand Sport vert(sold that one to my dad who still has it).

My favorite is the C6 Z06. I had a '02 Blue one. loved it. Should have never sold it. Maybe one of these days I will have another one.

Uniden R3 is the bomb. Saved my ass so many times. Sometimes alerts so far in advance you'd think its broken but eventually the source shows up unless its on a side street somewhere. Escort products cost me a lot of tickets over the years.

Yup. Had it in 3 cars now. Love it.

Wife and I went from Dallas to St. Louis and it would alert about 2 miles before the small towns I know cops hide in(70mph to 35mph in like .1 mile). I know not to speed through there anyway. Another trip from Dallas to Utah on WIDE OPEN I40... and it would chirp, then a few minutes later chirp again, then stronger then FINALLY we would see a trooper in the other side of the highway... must have pinged the first time like 3-4 miles away. Had it in my 19 Z06 going from Dallas to Gatlinburg, TN and back. Completely comfortable cruising quite a bit above the posted limit.

The R7 came out same time I bought this so it was a little cheaper than normal. A few friends run valentine ones, but the tech was so old in it. I heard the guy was completely redesigning it, but no clue.

Nice ride, love the color! In my neck of the woods, all the unmarked police cars are the same color combo minus the roof rails. I get a lot of "cop waves" from the local police in explorers because it looks like the police unit!

My dad was a die hard Valentine 1 guy, I don't currently have one, are the Uniden R3 better?

I just looked last night and the v1 has been completely re-designed into a gen2 unit. I have no clue how the gen2 unit fares. The r3 beat the v1 though in most testing if I remember correctly.
