New Gibson axle-back kit in the works

Has anyone heard anything when they except to ship. I just keep getting in the next week or so answer. Been waiting a month so far.

The Gibson website says they are in stock and ship in 2 to 3 days.

I did have some droning and rattling until I had the pipes welded. Cut the clamps off, had it welded,
then all issues were resolved.

It’s a fantastic sounding exhaust and a great bang for the buck. No drone or rattles with mine - couldn’t be happier with it. This is how the ST should have sounded from the factory and Gibson did a nice job getting the sound right without owners having to spend lots more money on a full kit. The black tips are a nice touch as well, and for anyone using the stepped band clamps from Amazon: do yourself a favor and upgrade to Grade 10.9 bolts.

Now seeing that this has already been asked and answered.
I have no drone what so ever, For the price point and the switch to some nice black tips I really have no complaints. I did have mine welded on vs clamped. It delivers a nice sporty tone, no rasp or popping and not too loud.

The only thing holding me back from this setup and really axle backs in general is that I have to cut my stock system exhaust. It’s not the difficulty of doing so, rather just ruining the stock system if I ever want to go back. This is what is pushing me towards a catback system. But those are more than I want to spend and really just don’t see the need for what I want. Which is a little extra sound, no drone, and good looks.

I had the thoughts about cutting and welding, but then I thought about it and out of all my vehicles I switched exhaust I never went back to stock. I honestly never even took my stock exhaust back after having them switched. Yes there always is the chance you may not like what gets put on. My biggest thing was I hated the chrome tips and wanted slightly better tone…luckily the Gibson delivered that.

Yeah they can weld a pipe coupling to place it back if needed for the stock exhaust.

I would not recommend something like back and fourth switching. If you go the clamp route, you kind of bend these pipe a little each time, overtime they will not got back together properly or have leaks. I would recommend clamping the Gibson, if you don't like then weld a coupler back to the stock stuff.

After a couple months with the Gibson exhaust I could not be happier. Great sound especially under aggressive acceleration and a nice "rumble" when downshifting via paddle shifters. A little drone around 2100 rpm that goes away with a downshift with same paddle shifter. A minor adjustment to roll the Gibson logo to top center on the tips makes it all look and sound great!

To those of you that are on the fence regarding this system that is a very friendly price for a great axle back. Paint it with VHT flat black before the install and it virtually disappears except for tips.

What a great deal from AutoAnything. This kit is such a score, even if you are paying $500 or slightly more. For merely a sound change, spending three or four times this is just a waste of money.
