Whats up folks?

Wondering if anyone has information on this new intermediate shaft/ actuator assembly.

I am having the C0631:14 and C0632:85 show up on forscan. With a ton of errors on the dash.

I found a TSB that listed a bunch of parts for this. I found the oil dripping out of the intermediate shaft area also while i was troubleshooting.

My parts came in but my intermediate shaft is definitely different. And it doesnt look correct. Is there a part number for the intermediate shaft with the housing for the actuator that will actually connect to my new axle?

I appreciate any information

Paul

that IS the correct part. It is no longer an actuator--just an "intermediate shaft" that is connected always. This is the latest version--the previous replacement for the FADA kind of looked like the FADA but with the connector port taped over. Note that with this newest version, the old left axle will not work. You need to get the new axle listed in the TSB. Definitely let us know how the install went. You have to lower the front subframe. You will also need FDRS to install the latest AWD firmware and choose the option "no connector" for the intermediate shaft question.

New axle:

Note the inboard side is now female which would mate with the intermediate shaft you have pictued.

Thanks you for the info. I am waiting on my mongoose cable and a day to do this. I also just noticed that they sent me a rev E axle not the F. That must be why i am confused. Since they both have splined shafts. The new F rev must be the new design to fit with this intermediate shaft.

Looks like i am returning axle and ordering the correct one.

FRDS with a 2 day license from ford should be enough to get the firmware updates done?

I will post some pics of the process and let you guys know how it goes. I just got done doing both manifolds on my 3.5EB 150 and all new turbo lines. What a nightmare. I am not looking forward to doing this...lololol

Thanks again!

That makes way more sense. I was like how the hell do i get these to connect.

Cheers

Yup. plenty of time. Since you have a 2020ST, you are going to want to update all the modules that have updates... maybe 14 of them? Make sure you have the time off and start early in the day. It seems to me the 2 day isn't 48hrs but 2 calendar days.

Update for you guys.

Started at about 645 tonight just got done with most of it. Getting that damn shaft out sucked. But its out and new one is in and torqued. The only bolt not torqued is the axle nut that goes to 266ftlbs. I got it to 150 (max of my wrench). The next issue is that the vent tube they sent me was incorrect. I have to grab another one hopefully tomorrow.

Got FRDS loaded and the mongoose cable ready to go for tomorrow also. Calling it a night.

Again, thanks for your help with the parts. Will let you know how it goes with the firmware tomorrow night. Gonna have a beer now. Lol.

How did you support the engine to remove the motor mount?

I used a block of wood on top of the jack. Slid that underneath the bellhousing. Wasnt perfect but it worked. I could only pump the jack like a mm at a time. Took some time. The book says to remove the entire block and put it aside. I could not figure out to get that block out of there. I had the trans line block removed and the bolts that hold the downpipes to the black bracket just past the bellhousing removed also.

FordBoss me in one of his video doesn't do anything heroic. just supports engine with wood block and removes LH engine mount bolts after raising the left engine a bit. He loosens the mount to subframe points before tthat. Unfortunately he was working on a 2.3L where you don't have to remove the mount, so was just describing what you need to do.

I'm sure you are googling possible problems. There should be no issues like that so I think something is going on that is not on your end. Just be aware that if you can't get it to work, call support when you do and they can credit you another 2 days for the license.

Thanks. I can get it to show passed for all. If i click on dealer it takes me to the motorcraft login. If i select independ/non dealer it goes nowhere and comes back with no connection. I am logged into motorcraftservices site. From there i can login to the other site where i purchased my 2 day license.

If i pick ETIS it fails and then my network icon goes from green to red.

As for the diagnoex website i do not have a login there and it shows no such email when i do a forgot password.

No clue.

All done. All the updates completed. Cleared all the DTCs, there were a ton. All related to communication errors to modules. I am guessing that they are due to the firmware loads.

Started it up, not one DTC. Took it for a short test drive and no issues, no noises, nothing. Driving fine.

Hopefully it stays this way for a while.

Again, thank you guys!

Well done!!! you are the first DIY'er I've read about doing the FADA replacement. ...and updating modules to boot! Congrats!

Just curious, did you do the rear camera recall? I'm wondering if that's a straight module update for a MY2020?
