New Vossen Hybrid Forged

So 3 of my wheels come in and the 4th is out there in the world somewhere ??? 4th wheel comes in 3 days later . Drop the Explorer off on Saturday to get them mounted and i get a call from my buddy saying that the center bore of the wheels is cut too small and they will not sit flush . I contact Vossen a few minutes ago and they said that they handle hundreds of orders and sometime they "key in" the wrong info when building . They basically said "oops" and that they will just recut them and get them shipped back out . These aren't even $10k , 3-piece custom wheels

I seem to have the worst luck when it comes to wheel manufacturers.....and that goes for all of them . I should have stuck with my original hunch and just bought some cheapy Ebay wheels

Sorry brother .... did they say it would take another 6weeks?

Thats the same thing i said for a company that does this for a living !

I have someone here local that could do it for me quickly but i don't want to give Vossen a reason to void a warranty .

Jeremy from Vossen agreed to have a local shop do it and he would cover the cost . I guess it's the best solution to a small problem .

Vossen paid for the hub bore issue fix and they are installed . I like the look but i might be looking at lowering a little more now .

Looks nice. I didn’t realize you guys both ordered the same wheel.

I only want another 1/4” up front. I’m seriously thinking about milling that much off the actual spring to make it happen.

i love that you picked out a wheel that wasn't gloss black. I'm saving for a set of either BC Forged or Vossens and of course am going with black, lol... but yours are making me question that previous "obvious" choice.

I think we went with a modest +32 offset if i remember correctly . I didn't want to go super aggressive on the offset to begin with because i can always get a couple of spacers to fix that issue since i might still be trimming the H&Rs to lower a bit more .

Like i said in a previous post , i am so over the gloss black wheel look for my vehicles . I will admit that gloss black does look good but i just wanted to try something different in the satin silver (basically grey) . I am so happy i went this route and the pictures just don't do it justice . I am getting ready to do some real custom stuff now that the wheels are finally mounted.....custom rear spoiler and mid-spoiler along with custom hood . Not too over the top but just enough to make it really stand out and be one-off .

SUBSCRIBED! My #1 want right now is a Grand Cherokee SRT/Trackhawk style hood for this vehicle with the rear facing vents. If you find an outfit that can do that, my wallet is ready. I will be watching for progress!!!

I did actually look at this hood when creating an idea but figured it would be way too much work to make it happen . The shape of the hood and where the vents are located would make it a complete nightmare to graft it to the skeleton or skin of the ST hood . I was actually leaning towards using some sort of Ford vehicle vent or vents . Not saying this idea is 100% out of the question but it would be a lot more work and the cost would outway the final product's purpose . I still want the vent or vents to be functional .

I used 2020 Ram Sport vents in my F150 hood. They fit like they were made for it.

i imagine so. its why im looking at having one made rather than modifying the stock one. ive got a custom carbon fiber layup shop by my house that has offered to help but they need a donor hood to make the mould with. :-(

This is why my method of grafting onto the OEM is easier . Your shop is going to need 2 donor hoods to make this project and hope that they can mate both together due to size and curvature . I'm sure i'm not the only one that hopes they can but is going to be a serious project .

The only reason i considered my own one-off project is the cost to build is going to be a lot less than buying someone else's manufactured hood . I don't see anyone making any hoods for this platform in the near future....or ever for that matter .

It’s also aluminum...so your fab skills better be on point. If a person can’t tig very thin aluminum modding a hood is a bad idea.

Some vehicle colors lend themself to the non-black wheel like your white ST and this white Platinum.
