Just noticed the other night my right front is beat up and right rear is scratched. Don't think the wife or I did it, neither one of us has tore up a rim in 35 years of driving but it's to late to bring it up with the dealer.

Suspect the innocent pre-teen or teenager every time. If your childless then it's paranormal. Try slapping $4000 worth of new wheels on it. I will not drive within 12 inches of a curb now. And forget driving thru the smart-car-width lanes at the bank. Not worth the chance.

Nice topic. Hopefully no one has to deal with this. Just a few months after I picked up my ST, a lady merged left into me and pushed me into the cement barrier. Surprising there was no body damage on the left side

Do Not ever, EVER go thru a Quick Trip car wash. Had the ST in for some service work--dealer gave me a car wash card for a Quick Trip car wash. Have gone thru the car wash many times with my F-150 with 20" wheels--no problem because the tires aspect ratio is taller. Took the ST thru and the guide bar tore up both passenger side wheels. Moral of the story, and $10 free car wash just cost me $200 to get the wheels repaired. Sorry, didn't take any pictures because I was so upset.

Who else drives the car then? I doubt the dealer did it is that possible you didn't see it? There are mobile guys that come around that could fix that rim for less than 100 bucks

I think the wife did it. But don't bring it up the her because she'll make your life miserable.

I looked at your pictures a bit closer. You could probably sand it lightly and perhaps paint with high gloss spray paint and blend it. There are a lot of YouTube videos about paint repair on wheels. It's amazing with these guys can do with a Dremel, spray paint and clear coat. You're lucky the wheels are just gloss black. Black is the easiest color to blend. The silver scrape would look worse than the paint you would patch it with I think. I forgot where you live but in Florida every other guy repairs rims at the dealer on site without taking the rim off the damn car. Shouldn't cost you more than 100 bucks. Those scratch marks would drive me insane , my OCD would never tolerate it. Lol

I've found that throwing on the 360 degree camera solves the bank and drive through issues.

Plus, the turning radius on the Explorer is phenomenal compared to a lot of SUVs. It's hilarious just how much tighter the turning radius is than my old Saturn Outlook.

Holy f*ck bros, these images are my worst nightmare. In the almost year I've had mine I think I've curbed only 3 times so far.... (Twice in the same damn DQ parking lot, once on a curb in a historic downtown area that came out of nowhere!) but EVERY time I stop and get out and look at my black rims and kiss them when there is on scratch lol.

I do really well in tight spaces because I used to drive a hurkin Trans Am with horrible visual clearance for my actual car itself, but believe me, my first set of rims on that TA.... Geez they were so toast lol....... but I've done pretty well for myself since then.

Got mine on the guide rail at the gas station carwash. I had her for 2 weeks when I did it, I went from a VW Sportwagen so kinda misjudged the turn. Lesson learned.

I bought the Tire and rim package when I purchased my ST...Learned the hard way after repairing the rims on my CTS-V a few times, I wish I'd bought that package from Cadillac...only takes a slight rub against the curb to peal off the powder coat or paint...and I suck at fixing them myself! And the 360 camera really helps when in tight spaces!

I have the tire and rim insurance package also due to lessons learned with rim scars on my 2014 Explorer Sport special wheels. Now to decide when to get them done and to try get a couple extra rims from someone getting rid of their original ST rims. I did that for my Sport and got good deal. Anyway, in the meantime, stocking up on black Magic Markers or temp. touchup.
