Oil change schedule

I pretty much follow the Ford schedule, with the exception of the first oil change, which I had done at just over 1000 miles. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I've always changed the oil on a new engine like that.

I felt the same way, however I have taken the advice of Ford and followed the oil percent gauge. Which seems to be on track for 7,500-10,000. I have 5,400 on my 22 as of this post and the oil meter still says 49% life left. Using what I have said, if I run the meter to zero that could be 10,800 miles !!! There is no way I feel comfortable waiting that long. I to, with every vehicle I have ever owned, go about 3,500 miles then do the oil and filter. I was REALLY shocked when Ford, the dealer, and may other I have spoke to said a "break-in" oil change is not needed. I hope the technology is right. Otherwise I may have already shortened the life of this motor.

I say do what makes you comfortable. I just did my first oil change at 4500km. The first since Jan 6-22. Lots of short drives and one long road trip towing a trailer. The oil life was at 50%. I have never followed the owners manual, always before. An oil change done a little sooner is cheap insurance for engine longevity.

Yep. Actually, all GDI engines have that in common.

According to the service advisor at the local dealer, Ford says every 7500 miles... I guess that's assuming you're running the good stuff.

I do what the onboard computer tells me. That is what Fords warranty department is gonna look at if I ever file a claim.

Performed a 3,000-mile change this morning at 5,886 miles. I did a 500-mile break-in oil change so this is actually oil-change number 3. Same as always, Mobil1 5w-30 Extended Performance Synthetic oil and a Motorcraft filter. Yeah, I know half the folks on this forum are laughing at me and the interval.

Sure like the UPR drain plug.

Stopped by the dealer and ordered the driver-side seat valance. Mine had popped the retainer. They ordered me the newly designed version. Hopefully, that won't be a future issue and will be there as long as I own it. They said it will be there in 2 days, we'll see on that one. It's under warranty though I'm sure they'll just hand it to me. Truth is I'd rather put it on myself anyway.

My last was @ 15,400. We put 2,600 on a road-trip in July, so the next change is @ 22K. I could probably do more (the oil on the stick is clear). In normal commute mode, I'll change it @ 6K. Even that will take nearly a year.

Found it easy to change it on the every 5K mark. Easy to remember.

I've changed mine 3 times so far and I'm still under 12,000 miles. I plan to change again before winter sets in. I do a lot of short trips so like to change at low miles.

What the OLM ("oil life monitor") tells you or sooner is just fine. Zero penalty for earlier oil changes (except of course for cash spent).
My dealer specifically recommends 5,000 mile intervals and FORD's warranty department will have absolutely no issue with that.

Every 5k miles for me also. Already have 11k miles on our '22 we picked up in February, so two oil changes already. I have always done this in all vehicles we have owned and run full synthetic.
