Oil Change

My new 2025 has about 1400 miles on it. The dealer said I do not have to change oil. As an old guy, I remember that we always changed oil with a new car after about a thousand miles. The dealer says today not necessary. Thoughts?

I changed mine at 1200 miles. It's your car, maintain it as you see fit.

I've always done a 500-1000 mile oil change, I'm used to seeing what comes out on a first low mile change. Regardless what others have said about there not being a need, it's just something I do.

I had the opportunity to crawl around under a '24 Bronco Bad Lands 2.7L a couple of days ago. My friend bought one and wanted me to help him with a 1000-mile oil change. Surprisingly, the catch pan had little black particles/chunks in the bottom of it, they were very small, and they weren't magnetic. That's why I like to change the oil early on to see what I can see because I know those first few miles is where things "wear in" for lack of a better description. I took a guess and have to assume it might be silicone from somewhere in the engine, it may have been plastic too, truthfully I'm not sure what it was.

We cut the filter open and saw some shiny stuff that also was not magnetic, it appeared to be aluminum. Being it's the first oil change, I didn't want to worry him too much and told him I'd recommend another oil change in 1000 miles just for peace of mind. It did concern me a little bit as it was more than I was accustomed to seeing on initial changes. It ran just like you'd expect a beautiful new Bronco to run. I have my fingers crossed for him.

Did mine at 1000 miles. Makes me feel good. There's a youtube vid out there with a dude that has basically devoted his life to oil with testing showing that an early oil change on a new vehicle is wise. Then again there's a lot out there and its up to you to go with what makes you feel better.

I also changed the front and rear diff fluid at around 1500 or so miles over to Amsoil. I'm having the PPE trans pan and amsoil trans fluid/PTU fluid done next week at around 2500 miles with a new trans filter and seal.

I have little trust in Ford fluids.

I did mine at 1k and then 3k miles or every 6 months after that. Don’t know if it does anything doing a break in oil change with these modern vehicles, but I still do it.

You will find 100 different answers from 100 different people on this topic.. . For me, I do my 1st oil change @ 500 miles using synthetic blend and the 2nd one also with synthetic blend 2,500 miles later @ 3,000 miles in total. From there, I do it every 3,000 miles with full synthetic.
