My old 335i had an oil change every 7500 miles or so. People sent their oil during similar mileage to Blackstone for analysis and 99% of the time, oil was still pretty good. 10k miles would be attainable on single oil on 90% of the cases, some even more. Not saying you shouldn't make early oil changes, but saying it might not even be necessary.

Going on WOT on it used to burn oil faster than the times I didnt, would need to add half or a full quart of oil in between oil changes depending on how it was driven. I also had almost 130k miles before I got rid of it.

I just stick with synthetic oil changes every 6 months or 5,000 miles. Cheap insurance.

YES YES YES -- Absolutely worth the extra $$$ -- and synth too. Just did mine after 1100 miles. The turbos which are oil cooled and lubricated will also be very happy .

I've read that some ST's can be a little high on oil consumption but with regular checking it should suffice service checklist. Mine burned a half quart during the so called breakin but nothing since. have 2000 miles now.

I usually do my own but if I don't I always check to make sure the oil, filter and level are as they should be. There are videos of folks who have assumed the job was done right but found out the hard way that it wasn't. Caveat Emptor.
Anyone needing to add oil every few hundred miles? I drive about 250 miles on the weekend and need to add 1/4 of quart of oil after each trip. Is this normal? Never had a new car do this, but friends have other cars, Volvo's, Subaru's that do.

Yeah I'm around 4.5k per oil change.
