Anyone use a vacuum tank to extract used engine oil via the dip stick tube or equivalent access point from the Explorer ST crankcase. I use to have one of these I would use to suck the oil out of the dip stick tube on my old 2004 BMW M3 Convertible. The M3 also had an upper oil filter like the ST. It would save needing floor ramps, taking the deflector cover off and on beneath the engine and messing with the drain plug. It worked very slick.

This is the one I use on my ST. It works great through the dipstick. Just don't get one that is too small. Our ST has 6 qt of oil. Doing the oil change completely from above takes much less time, is much less messy, and the tiny amount of old oil you don't get is likely inconsequential if you do oil changes regularly. Last two times I did this, I pulled about 6 qts of oil so I know I'm getting most of it.

Awesome! I cancelled the harborfreight order and went with the 9.5 litres one from Amazon.

Yes, I also plan on using an oil extractor to change my oil on my ST. I will find a link to the one that has good reviews and see what others think. I have changed my own oil for 30 years and after watching some videos, this is my plan as I don't want to put the ST on ramps. My 2017 Explorer with the 3.5 was easy to change with no ramps, filter was right up front and plug easy to reach.
