Suspect they did not override it because it was not there when they setup your tune.

Same caliper and pads. There is an electric servo that applies and releases the parking brake.

Just put it in gear and go. It will release with throttle input.

FYI - My Explorer requires a little more than just putting it in gear. Also experienced the brakes locked up after driving in snow and then parking in 10degree temps overnight. The parking brake wouldnt release (truly frozen). An AWD Explorer in the Northern states (or where the temps often get below 20degrees) should have an option to turn off the auto parking brake.

If after putting it in Park, can you use E-brake button to release the brake before turning the engine off? I do not have that “feature” since I have never had the recall “fix” done.

Yes. That does work. Just wanted an option in the settings.

It only takes a light tap of the accelerator has nothing to do with idle speed at all on mine. There's barely a blip on the tach when I release mine. Something sounds wrong.

Tell that to someone you loan your vehicle to. This is the dumbest thing Ford has ever done and believe there have been many dumb things.

Agree. My wife’s MB locks the ebrake too but it unlocks it when you shift out of park.

I dont drive the ST very much, but it has become a very quick and painless habit.
Soon as I start the engine, foot still on the brake, click the park brake off. No big deal.

Mine actually burned out (left rear) from repeatedly putting the car into Park in a long fast-food line. Froze the car in place 45 miles from home and it had to be flat-bedded out the next day. Massive hassle is an understatement. I don't think their electronic parking brakes were built to handle this many cycles on and off, hopefully it doesn't happen again out of warranty.

So the Auto Brake never really bothered me until today. I found out that if you open the door while in reverse the truck automatically goes into park and then set's the brake. Our first snow hit and my rear camera got covered on the way into work. I couldn't see how close I was to obsticle through the mirrors so I opened my door and damnit if it didn't stop dead on me
Now that part of the Auto Brake was inconvenient.

This is what auto-hold is for, why would you put it in park constantly in a drive through line when you have a car with auto-hold.

I actually miss the feature. I park on an incline and liked how it set the brake as soon as I put it in park. I got in the habit of just hitting the button as I shifted into drive. Since installing my latest tune revision the feature no longer works.

A reasonable question. Call it part old habit and part fear of accidentally hitting the gas pedal when I'm right up against someone, but I don't do that anymore after what happened.

To my horror, my e-brake is NOT auto engaging on acceleration tap. Seems it needs to be manually disengaged.

I did a PCM update via FDRS yesterday. Went to pull my car forward about 20 feet this morning so I could load things in it for work. It felt like a slug. Figured it was calibrating or something.

Turned the engine off. Did my thing, went to drive to work and it didn't go forward. Odd. Looked at the dash and brake was lit up. Huh? I didn't touch that. Tried it again at work and yup, not auto disengaging. Sooooooo....what now.

I regret doing the PCM update.

Any ideas?
