Anyone taking odds?
Love this forum! :ROFLMAO:

Got a call from the dealership that the part came in. Scheduled an appointment a few days ago for (today) to get the part installed (APIM module - check my spelling, IDK).

Got there, the service associate says "the part didn't come in yet."(n):poop:

Waste of time! Except for the next free oil change coming.

Hello forum members. Any updates on this problem?
I have taken my car to three different dealers in Michigan hoping to find one who knows/understands/have heard of this problem to no avail! All they do is tell me they found no codes, they reset the sync system tell me everything checked out fine!
It is frustrating not being able to talk on the phone for more than 3 minutes before the other side asks to hang up because of a horrible echo!
I have been doing a lot of online search about a possible solve. I came
across similar complaints from people over the years who owned different cars from ford focus to Volkswagens and even people shared the same problem when they used their headphones . The most common explanation is that it is a carrier or phone specific problem that has to do with VOLTE or voice over LTE technology. This is something I can disable on my Samsung phone Under advanced calling feature in settings but the problem is the voice quality becomes terrible. I am going to try it all week this week and report back
Zero echo complaints so far from callers that have consistently complained about it so it seems to be working. Downside is that the call quality reminds me of the analogue days, a lot of background noise and less than clear call quality so not sure how long before I start getting irritated because of the background noise from the other side.

Anyhow, to do this in Samsung S9 go to settings > connections > advanced calling and turn off that option

I should add that you will lose your ability to use any internet or data while you are on a call if you disable the voice over LTE (also called HD calling in Samsung) because the phone will revert back to basic digital signal connection

I just starting having this issue. Haven't had time to dig into it so far. Has anyone had it resolved from Ford?

thanks for that update. What a crappy solution though! I'm often plugged into Android auto streaming a podcast, navigating on Wayz, and sometimes taking calls. I can't go back to a non-data connection. good to know it's an option though.

Anybody notice any improvement on this recently? I managed to hold a call for 30 mins without any issues (without turning the voice over LTE off). Typically the echo would have appeared 2-3 times.

I was using Android Auto on my Pixel 5 and have not had the latest Sync download (still on build 20282).

just back from a service appt. They reloaded Sync and deleted out the phones first. Tech said sometimes if you update sync with the phones still paired, it can cause issues. Haven't done any calls yet, but will test it this week and see what happens.

I did this last week, after the update. It didn't help me. :cautious:

My Sirius XM stopped working...so that happened. Saw someone else with a similar issue that says it corrected itself after a few days. we'll see if that happens. you experience that too?

My Sirius XM subscription expired. I prefer Pandora through my phone's unlimited data plan.

I heard of the Sirius XM issue happening but correcting itself after a few days, just like you said.

Just bought the 2021. I have read the whole thread and tried a few tricks. Nothing seems to work. The call is fine for the first 8 minutes, and like clockwork, just start to echo. Can't take business calls and my wife just hangs up now... They need a fix. Galaxy S21 Ultra. I am hoping the May 8th update, which just installed tonight will work... I will post either way. I will also include the build #. This forum is great! So much info!!

I am picking up my ST from the dealership's service area this afternoon to fix this very issue. I will test if the replaced APIM (spell?) module actually fixed the issue. They've had my ST for 2 days!

yes, work calls are annoying and YES,. my wife gets so pissed off now too! This glitch is hurting marriages! I'm still on my 3+year Galaxy 9s, which works fine otherwise, but I'll upgrade if that's what works. thanks for the post.

Kegs, can you also share what part is it they exchanged? My fixes did not help.

Got the ST back and cannot believe it...they FIXED IT!

The part exchanged was the APIM module and it's an all morning fix. Note: Not sure if it's the part or just my dealership but it took 2-3 wks for the part to arrive.

I called my wife from the ST to her car for 20+ mins. For the first time, zero feedback, echo, nor robot voice on the other side. SUCCESS!!!

Hope this helps the rest of you or there!

I'll keep trying it to see if it's a permanent solution.

I'd be interested after more calls if it is fixed, although it happens for me pretty much 95% of the time, there have been a few calls that it was ok. Please keep us posted!

Well, the May 8th update didn't work.

It looks like @KegsBdry may have solved it. Hopes so! Will check back after the weekend.

Fair point. More test trials on the way.

Looks like I gotta call around to family to get some long calls in.

I'll keep everyone posted.
