Pirelli Scorpion Zero Tires

At only 3100 miles, I got a drywall screw in the inner shoulder of the tire which of course can never be repaired. NTB ordered a new one for me for 313.99 and it was received in 4 days. When they unpacked the tire and saw the foam insulation inside, they told me these tires can never be plugged/repaired by them. You have to buy a new tire every time it gets punctured! I'm thinking because of the special order status of this tire size and that it can't repaired, it may be smart to purchase a spare and have on hand at home for emergencies!

They are run-flat tires.

They are not run-flat tires. It was flat that's why I needed a new tire.

Mine was not in the fixable area of the tire. On the outer edge of the shoulder almost in the sidewall. I think the Explorers with Michelin tires have self-sealing run-flat tires. These Pirelli's are not.

The Pirellis ARE run flats. I got a nail and the expandable foam plugged the hole. You are correct in that it can never be repaired No matter where you get a nail. Glad I got the wheel and tire warranty. Already ran through two tires. See link for information on these tires.

I don't know how it can be run-flat if it went down to 24 psi then down to zero when it was in my trunk for couple days using the mini spare tire. Luckily according to the Pirelli warranty PNCS and run-flat tires have road hazard coverage for a year because I didn't purchase additional warranty. My NTB dealer copied the warranty information and is submitting a warranty claim with Pirelli. Maybe because my puncture was on the outer edge of the tread almost sidewall it wouldn't reseal.
