I have this error on my 2025 Explorer ST. The car consumes a lot of fuel. Is this related? I had the 2020 Limited before and it consumed less fuel.

Hey dude welcome! There has been several posts about this issue. In general consensus is its cold related and a software issue. Not sure if its fuel related but the ST is a performance SUV and will consume more gas. So make a stop at your dealer and have them update whatever software. Feel free to utilize the search function and do a search on Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power and you'll find the posts.

100 more horsepower, 2 more cylinders, an an extra turbo in that ST engine means more fun, faster acceleration and more fuel consumption!

Define “consumes a lot of fuel.” There are a lot of variables for gas mileage, but I can guarantee you’re going to get a lot less then the 4-cylinder Limited you had. This error seems to be a common problem on the 2025s, Ford has a recall or TSB on it

According to a local dealer I spoke with last week, any software updates should be able to be done at home if your vehicle is set-up and connected to your WiFi. Don't kill the messenger (me) on this, only relayed what they said. My confidence level with anything I hear from a dealership is usually pretty low from many years of experience!

Posted my results from the dealer related to my Orange Wrench issue on my 2025 Explorer ST in a different forum. Hope assists anyone interested: 2025 Ford Explorer ST: So this is the result from my service call regarding the Orange Wrench light. "Ran EEC test to get P0929 at GSM. Ran Oasis to find SSM 53118. Performed SSM for update to FSM that will correct this issue. Cleared codes after update." Took for a test drive on interstate this evening. All seems well.
BL: This fix requires the Ford Service Department to update via the OBD connector.
