Warren...if someone were working with a tight budget what’s your thoughts on the front 380 rotor and Jeep 6pot calipers with the oem size 355 rear rotor retaining the oem caliper?

a) based on post history, this "someone" can't possibly be you ;)

b) i *think* that somewhere in this thread he said that he doesn't really like that idea as you end up with a really aggressive forward bias (much like the TrackHawk). I had this same thought, but that post swayed me away from it. I think that budget individual may be better off going with the RB 4-pots in the front--that way they can retain the same size rotor...

A quick glance at Jeep SRT8 brakes:

WK1 (06-10): 360/350 (4 pot calipers)
WK2 (2012+): 380/350 (6 pot)
Trackhawk: 400/350 (6 pot)

The front has increased in rotor and caliper sizes over the years, but the rear remain unchanged. We offer a more refined upgrade with a selection matrix to help Explorer owners decide in meeting their need and budget.

So if you decide to go with 380/355 you are in WK2 set up and you can progressively add the rear BBK (380) later.

So.. thinking long term on using the Jeep six piston calipers.. are there any factory replacement rotors that will work with them on the Exploder ST?

The rotor would be a custom design & build by RB that will fit under Jeep WK2 6 pot caliper and Explorer ST spindle just like OE set up (No mod. is required)

Ok, how is the ETA looking on the rotors? I just picked up a set of the WK2 calipers.

Also, will I need to pick up a set of Jeep WK2 brake lines, or are the stock Ford lines compatible

We just received a set of rotor hats so after assembly we are now able to confirm the weight saving and fitment for shipment release.

OE (362x32mm) Wt:

SRT8 WK2 Caliper BBK (380x32mm) Wt.

Total wt saving per axle:

We are holding the shipment until the OE brake line retrofit to WK2 calipers are established under the description of webpage as follows:

Banjo bolt connection retrofit procedures:

This is how OE brake lines look like (left=position hook removed, right=before removal)

1. Remove OE banjo (90 deg) position hook (to the same as above pic on left)

2. Remove WK2 caliper banjo position block (flange) - The block here has the same idea as Explorer's hook they serve to secure the banjo bolt from rotation but in our experience and for practical purpose they are not required.

Under milling machine

Hatch lines is where the block (flange) is removed

90 deg hook removal is not hard you can use a hacksaw and file or grinder. Removing WK2 flange is a little bit harder but can be saw off with a hacksaw or hand grinder. After this retrofit you will notice the connection is neater and easy to secure and detach as necessary.

If you ever have to revert back to OE calipers, it will be just like WK2 (as retrofitted) w/o the hook and it will function just well w/o any concern.

This is a simple procedure does not even require to replace the brake line. If you are not handy you can show your installation shop these pics and they should be able to perform this retrofit modification for about one hour extra in labor, or call us for assistance.

Good to know - Retrofit project can be challenging, fun and rewarding - Especially for the substantial saving in money and the feeling of accomplishment being you are part of it!

I wish more people can appreciate the value of the kit so we can sell a few more sets.

It’s hard to get the calipers right now. I ordered a new pair in March and they actually finally shipped today. There’s a lot of interest on all the FB groups I’ve posted in but people are hesitant due to the caliper shortage.
