I had a family member who served in WWII. He was in the US Army, 28th Inf Div, 110th Inf Reg. They were part of the forces that liberated Germany from the Nazis.

The 28th's motto was "Roll On" and they used a red keystone insignia, which after tangling with the enemy the Nazis renamed them the "Bloody Buckets".

There was a reason why they were called "the greatest generation" ...
