Rod Knock at 4K miles.

Just passed 4k miles on my 23 ST a few days ago and started hearing a tapping/knocking when coming off throttle, started it the next morning and heard a consistent knock from the bottom end. Had it towed to the dealer and they told me it needs a new long block assembly and both turbos replaced (thankfully under warranty) and I was wondering if anyone had anything similar?

Dang I hate to hear that. What is the build date on your 23?
Mine is 11/23. I hope I don’t run into an engine issue.

It is very very uncommon for the actual engine to have problems on our cars. There was just a recall for bad valves on some of our cars so that could be it, very uncommon problem though.

I wish it was a valve issue, might get my car back sooner. according to the dealer both the oil and filter were full of bearing material. apparently after the engine is removed the long block is being sent back for failure analysis. the dealer said they hadn't encountered anything like this with one of the 3.0 engines before but I just wanted to see if they were being honest or trying to make it seem like a fluke. but everything else I've seen makes it seem like it really is a fluke.

Mine is 11/23. I hope I don’t run into an engine issue.

Jut got an update from the dealer, when they drained the oil there was less than 2qts in the pan. the tech I talked to said they did not find any evidence of any oil leaks so its most likely an oil consumption issue caused either by defective rings or turbo oil seals. Oil consumption leads to low oil, low oil leads to low oil pressure, leads to a spun bearing.

I've seen so many post about people having issues with low oil and no warning! I'm checking my oil level every time if fill up now just to be safe!

I checked the oil at about 2k miles before a road trip and the level was right in the center of the range. didn't check it again after that.

Sounds plausible. Turbo oil seals are known to leak but have the telltail white smoke on startup.

Yes mine had 25k when mine went! had the white smoke issues, they found number 4 cyl cracked as well i got a new block as well, then just got it back the radiator hose came off lost all my fluid! thankfully so they say no engine damage was done, they did all the pressure tests etc. replaced the pinch clamp with a worm clamp, the good kind lol! i swear these things were slapped together! now im hoping the tranny goes so i can lemonade this thing! (lemon law) i hope those that are ordering the 25s are getting better quality but i doubut cause all they did was give it a new interior and a face and butt job but still same ol junky yes i said it! ecoboom! Fixed Or Repaired Daily!

Wow ok. Like I said, these engines themselves are actually pretty reliable, being a mass produced vehicle you’re going to get crappy quality ones like yours it seems like. Especially with the crappy quality control ford had during those earlier builds like our old 2020 A Build. Most of us are running problem free on our cars.
