Hello all, we recently purchased a 2022 Explorer ST late December of 2024, and recently noticed on startup the exhaust blows a blueish colored smoke for about a couple seconds then goes away. On this website I have noticed that there were some out there that had the same issues, and most were replacing the turbo chargers to fix the issue. We currently still have warranty on the ST. Now my question is if it is the turbo chargers, would they leak again in the future? Also not sure if its the reason but we park in the driveway at an incline and reason why I say that is because some brought that up too. Any information regarding would be great. Thank you

If the turbos started to leak, they'll continue to leak. Other causes could be bad valve seals or bad compression causing oil blowby. Of those two, since you only see the smoke on startup, it'd likely be the valve seals. Constant smoke while driving, or puffs of smoke when taking off from a stop light is usually bad rings.

I'd guess it's the turbos though.

It’s not the turbos that are bad it’s the turbo seals most likely. Being on an incline shouldn’t change that, just coincidence most likely. If they replace the turbo seals, they most likely won’t leak again.

Thats what I kinds figured being parked at an incline shouldn't have any effects. As soon as I get the ST in I will update it here.
