Speeding Ticket Today

State Trooper got me. 70 in a 55. He wasn’t feeling generous today, so I got a ticket. I’m guessing around $150.00. First ticket in 24 years! Guess I was due.

Having driven that stretch on I-75 near Lima many, many times, they don't mess around. I picked up a ticket just south of there in the 90s. Trooper gave me two choices: pay the ticket on the spot, or follow him back to court. I didn't have the cash, but he told me they took credit cards! He took my credit card with the old style "zipper" raised imprint machine and sent me on my way. Fun fact- I had just bought my first Escort radar detector which alerted just as he zapped me with the instant-on radar.

Got all my tickets with Escorts. No tickets in several years since switching to Uniden R3. Sometimes the warnings are so far (miles) you think it is wrong but it is not.

I had been following someone that couldn't keep a constant speed. As soon as the double yellow line ended, I passed him, and there was the trooper.

I have that issue with my ST. Go to pass one like that and i hit 80 most of the time. Been lucky so far.

That "Yeah, but I was passing him" didn't work for me either one time. Coincidentally also in Ohio.

I think if I would have been less than 10 mph over He might have let me skate. No one likes to see a grown man cry...

Looks like the state is infamous for speeding tickets ... btw, 70 mph in a 55 zone = $165.00 plus $5.00 for the privilege to pay for it online.

going to have to respectfully disagree with this info graph. I was in Florida for the last 2 weeks.. there is no such thing as a speed limit there and even shoulders are passing lanes. they should be winning at 0%

Bargain! California add's "fee's" to performance awards. Not unusual for a $100 ticket ending up around $400 (especially in Malibu)... & in my case that was about 25 years ago... Can't imagine what it costs now.

70 in a 55 man that's slow. Here in Northern Californastan you better be doing 80 or you'll get run over.

I once got a ticket driving a rig for 60 in a 55.

This past fall....on our way south for the winter, I think we were in Illinois on I-57 somewhere. I took a nap while the wife did some driving. I wake up a later and realize the scenery is going by pretty fast. I look over and the speedometer says 95!!!! And the cruise control is on!! I ask her how long she was on cruise at that speed and she says "a while"!!!!! Needless to say I asked her to slow down if she wanted to save some money! Apparently vehicle ride at that speed does not wake the passenger up.

15 over here, went 50 on a 35, ticket was $250. This was recently too.

I've had good luck recently. Pulled over 3 times in the last 6 months.
1. Right turn on red, (RSM - OC Sheriff) cop said I didn't stop, I know I did. Honestly only 2nd time I felt I was pulled over for no reason. Sent citation to Ticket Clinic, 2 months later get the letter saying dismissed, only paid their $250 fee.

2. 58 in a 45. CHP (only CHP in Coto de Caza). Was right before the limit drops to 35. Got a warning.

3. 80 in a 65. CHP. Just a warning and a suggestion to open my moonroof cover on cloudy days so my tint wasn't noticeable.

Last ticket I received was 15 years ago in Michigan on a two-lane road. I'm doing exactly the limit with cruise on. As I come over a hill, there's a kid skateboarding down the hill in the middle of road! I mean this is corn country and a skateboarder in front of me in the middle of nowhere is just about the last thing I expect to see. There's also a county sheriff at the crossroads at the bottom of the hill turning in my direction. I hit the brakes to slow down, pull around the kid and continue only to see the officer hit the lights and u-turn to come after me. I pull over and the lady officer comes up and lets me know she hit me at 72 mph in a 60. This was simply not true, so I asked to see the meter. She tells me she doesn't have to show me and writes me the ticket. I contest it and show up at the JOP. I tell the judge the story and tell him I'm absolutely sure that all the officer saw was probably my hood dipping as I hit the brakes to avoid the kid. He looks at the officer and asks if that was the way it happened. The officer says "I don't remember it that way, but since the citizen went out of his way to come in..."- Judge throws the ticket out.

It is hard to get above 50 on the roads I typically drive on. They love to drive right about 49 mph here in a 50 mph zone. Not sure how they can stand me riding their bumper. And I drive with my headlights on all the time. Wife says I am lucky I haven't been shot yet.
