You either aren’t actually out of brake maintenance mode, the parking brake did it reinitialize to find its new start and stop positions?

otherwise check for leaks of brake fluid maybe air is getting in the lines?

I used the pedal procedure to enter and exit service mode.
Yes you could hear them both screwing in and out and when I pull the brake button they engage and the rear brakes lock up correctly.

I was able to use the pedal procedure to get it in to brake maintenance mode but no matter how many times I tried it would not work to exit it so that's why I used forscan.

Try to scan and clear all codes before exiting using the pedal procedure.

I had to have someone with frds reset codes before my car let me truly exit. Did you use the factory parking brake motors? Or aftermarket ones that came with the kit?
I used the factory ones off my original calipers and moved them onto my Superforged calipers which helped resolve most of my issues. I have the integrated parking brake rear calipers.

I have the integrated as well and used the factory unit to mount to the Superforged. I reset all the dtcs which forscan is showing a bunch for abs and then ran the initial setup for the rear brakes which was an option in forscan but I'm still getting a lot of sounds coming from what I assume is the abs untit by the firewall on the drivers side as well as vibration in the pedal itself.

Could air have gotten into the abs cylinder? If so I would try the forscan brake bleed procedure. There's a good video of it on YouTube.

I used the super forged integrated motors in rear. I also used FDRS to enter and exit parking brake maintenance mode.

The only time I heard sounds from around the master cylinder was when I was running the bleeding procedure in FDRS and I could clearly hear the abs cycling. It stopped when complete.

Good luck finding the issue.

So I used the Forscan brake bleed procedure and double checked fluid levels and "believe" the lines are all free of air. Got the truck down and back on the ground with no lights on. I pulled down the street and first stop at 10 mph Check Brake System popped up followed by the BRAKE light staying on. It's stopping fine and everything seems to be working correctly with no other lights on at all. Should I see if a local brake shop can sort out this last little issue or just straight to Ford? Thanks for the guidance.

Getting any specific codes? Pedal feel firm and braking smooth?

This morning I cleared all the dtc's and then in the service section ran a few of the ABS service resets. Took it out and performed multiple stops at varying speeds of upwards of 60mph with no issues, lights or questionable pedal feel. Hopefully it's good to go and no more gremlins in the system.

Good to hear! You’re gonna love the braking performance!

Would just getting the front Superforged BBK be OK. I'm not racing, just want better braking performance for "spirited" street driving. Does the rear really need an upgrade being most of the stopping is done at the front?

Definitely quite a bit better than stock however likely a little unbalanced braking. Fronts do most braking anyhow but with the oem rears they will barely be applying. I personally would not take that route. Just my 2 cents.

Having said that there are people that have only upgraded the fronts.

In my personal opinion, just doing the fronts is perfectly fine and still upgrades them a lot. If you’re just doing front BBK I’d look at the GT350 or GT500 front brake swap as they’re cheaper. Everyone here says that it will be an unbalanced system, which might be true, but I don’t think it will be a huge deal.

Oh you have my attention I was unaware of this option. I really want to do the GT500 swap. I read (https://www.explorerst.org/threads/explorer-st-modding-101-guide.7324/) here about it but have no idea on what to purchase and where the best places is to go to for this stuff and not having luck searching. Any help in where to look would be helpful on what exact parts I need to get and any install tips would be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time!

That’s my modding guide. Here’s a great thread on this:

In a panic stop it will nose dive substantially more than a full system will….the back end will lighten up a lot.

Awesome thanks for all your work and linking the thread!
I priced a GT500 front left caliper alone and its $700. This option will add up super fast to be the price of the Superforged front BBK at this rate. I suppose the cost savings is if I can find some used GT500 front brake sets.

Is there a serious saftey concern? I mean won't the ABS keep doing its job as always preventing front lock-up?

Depends on how you drive. It wasn’t acceptable to me considering my happy place is fast, off camber downhill sweepers in the mountains and I don’t want the ass end getting light when I’m late braking into one.

OK yea i can see that affecting things in an unpleasant manner. The full Superforged kit looks to be the way, tough pill to swallow when it comes to the $$ even though I'm sure you get what you pay for.
