Did mine today on my '20 ST and it seemed to complete with no issues. Must be mostly a "bug fix" involving bugs I don't have ... because I can't really see any difference yet ... maybe a fraction of a second faster from screen to screen. Perhaps just my imagination!!

Mac Users: FWIW - when building the USB drive, I did make sure I matched the screenshots on the instructions. When I downloaded the files on my Mac, it decompressed into one folder with the two index files plus all of the TAR.GZ files in one folder:

I manually created a SYNCMYRIDE folder on the USB drive, moved all of the TAR.GZ files there, and then I made sure modified the file names to look right:

Worked like a charm. I had a lot of trouble with the last update failing because of the file names and it would not work until I created a subfolder and moved them there along with the necessary changes in file names.

Not sure if this issue affects Windows users or not.

Enjoy!!

Initial load took about 20-25 minutes. It then restarted and said there would be more after a full power off cycle, leave the USB drive in. I parked and shut down, took care of some work, then started back up. This second phase only took a few seconds. Then it said to remove the USB drive and it would be done after the next key cycle. No problems throughout.

I did the update via USB on Saturday and it did take less than 30 minutes to complete. Today I discovered SiriusXM Travel Link is no longer working! I called Sirius and they said they would boost my signal whatever that means. It did not fix the problem. Anyone else having this problem? Prior to today, the information would load after a couple minutes of driving. Now after more than 20 minutes, they don't load.

Yup, having the same issue. Did a signal refresh with Sirius and no help. Literally on the phone now with Ford ... guy's acting like he never heard of the problem. Maybe more folks should call in!! (800-392-3673)

UPDATE: Rep indicated this is an known issue for Explorers. Gave me a case number and an indication that that it would be resolved in 1-2 days.

We'll see .....

Mine updated. Maps are still 0119 or whatever the old version was so this doesnt update them. Guess I need to get a cheap PC and get on the cyanlabs stuff for the map update.

2 ?s:
1) does this fix anything with the phone/echo issue we've been talking about on here?
2) can I update this over wifi as well or do I have to go through the USB update?
TIA!

I updated my system over WiFi. This took a couple hours with a good signal. The car turns itself off after a certain amount of time. You will have to go back and forth several times to turn car on. Not the engine just auxiliary power. I will use USB option next time.

If you have a good high amp charger connected, you can use ACC and then every half hour or so, open the door so the car doesn't time out. You can easily update 3.4 21020 and then map NA 2.20 (separately).

I connected the car to my home wifi, and turned it off. Sometime overnight last night, it connected and downloaded the 2020 maps by itself. I wasn't sure it was "smart" enough to do this, but it seemed to work ... my Maps now show as 2.20 vs 1.19 !!

Of course it broke my Sirius Travel Link ... but I'm sure Ford will resolve that!!

I just did this with my ST to connect to my garage's wifi extender. I look forward to checking tomorrow if the update happened!

Thanks.

Good luck!! I'm still surprised that it did something on it's own ... but there's no other way the NA 2.20 maps could have downloaded!!

Once again, I suppose it’s too much to ask Ford to simply make the updates available on a USB drive?
I would gladly pay $20 for it?

I'm happy to report that after 3 days the Sirius Travel Link is working again! No reset was necessary. It corrected on its own. I did check for updates over WiFi and it did download some. Maybe that's what did it.

I wish Ford would modify the Sync 3 system to allow Apple CarPlay to use more of the screen. I was talking to a friend who works at Apple and he said there is code in CarPlay to use a larger screen, but he does not know the details other than the car's system has to let CarPlay know the size of the screen.

Did the update this afternoon. Took all of about 30 mins via wifi. Turned Full Accessory mode with my key on the seat, started the download, came back after lunch and the car had shut itself off. Took a bit to find the link o I'll share.

Mine's updated via wifi but I can't see any improvement. Its still not "quite" ready to go after a start, it still only uses half the screen and whether or not it deigns to connect to my iphone is still a mystery.

You are still not able to choose the defaults you want, the backup camera still only uses 1/4 of the screen unless you select 1/2, the 360 camera is very small.

Presumably there was a point to this?
