Hi All,
Just a quick question:
Why is it that when I turn my sound system off, the next time I start the vehicle up, the radio's blasting? In the first place, I rarely listen to the radio and almost always have a music compilation USB flash drive jamming the songs I like.
Up until recently, the system would be off as I left it when I start the vehicle. When I turned the system on, it would pick up where it left off, whether it be in the middle of a song or in between songs. Now it just does what it wants with the radio and because it takes a few moments to boot the screen up, it won't respond to any commands except the rotary volume. It won't mute, turn off or display any other options until the screen boots up and in the meantime, that's a big inconvenience. Especially when it's at night and you're trying to be quiet. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Sounds like the software issue I had last year. Loss of memory and settings. Simply update to 23188 and your problems should be solved! I went through this April to September of last year until the new software came out in early September.

Thanks hbalek!
I'm set for automatic updates. So, it won't update to 23188 unless you ask it to?

Best bet is to download from Ford and put on USB flash drive.

Do they have some discreet version or has there been problems using the Sync update feature?
Which Ford site?

I've used both methods and been successful, and at this point I just let it auto update. I decided to go this route because people were reporting failures coming from one of the more troublesome versions, so I just let it do its own thing. What do you know? It worked for me. Many have reported this method not being successful.

I will say that it isn't something that happens overnight. It sometimes takes a week before I get the full auto update complete. If you're in a hurry, use a thumb drive.

From my expierience the wifi in my driveway takes hours and days even to complete the update. A USB download and install takes less than an hour total based on mutiple updates since 2020! I gave up years ago on trying to auto-update and install over wifi. Just log into your Ford Owner account and look for Sync updates.

Thanks again!
Do you think it's worth it to spend $109 to update navigation maps? There's been a couple occasions where Sync didn't recognize addresses that I searched for.

I have never updated maps and last summer Ford offered a free update which I downloaded couldn't install. I kept getting an error message and gave up on installing the map update.

Did a USB install on Build 23188. So far, so good but hadn't really gone through the paces yet.

Hmmm ... I wonder if the free update is still out there. Beats the going price!

I only pay $40 plus shipping. Just bought another update last month. I have bought three updates, and every one was $40. I think you are showing the purchase of SYNC 3 update that includes the map update. SYNC 3 I update with a free download to my USB.

This is for the map update only. I have updated SYNC for free by downloading it.

If you go to the correct map update page the listing shows just the map update for $40, and nothing about Sync update like the page you are showing.

That is the website I always go to for the $40 updates. Might have to do with you never updating before so it is charging you more for more information? I think it has to start with your last update.

I have updated every time a new once came out until last year. When you ST hits theth update I am pretty sure your price will go up. I never paid for any updates, just downloaded them for free,

When you say free, I assume you mean just the Sync updates, not the maps. I do that. Since map NA223 just came out, it will be another year before the next map update. I will have to wait until then to see if the price changes for NA224.

My webpage does always show I have one-only map update I can download for free. I have never used that because of slow download speeds and instead just buy the USB. If the price goes up next time I may use that.

The map update were free that i downloaded. Last year they stated charging and it just isn't worth it to me for the price. I can use Google maps for free using Android Auto and in many ways it is easier. The best thing to me using Google is you can talk to it hands free while driving. That way if you need to enter or change a destination while drive you can do that. With the Ford map you need to be stopped to to that. The one down side to Google maps is that Ford only allow you to use the upper half of the vertical screen. But that doesn't bother me to much after using it for a year.
